Nicely presented but poor quality for a supposed 4*
Upon arrival hotel is quite impressive, nice seating area in main reception and stunning terrace overlooking the pool with views of the runway. When we arrived room was apparently not ready, that was fine we were happy to have a drink on the terrace whilst waiting but unfortunately no service at the bar. Receptionist did not take any details, instead I was given a link to enter our details online and check in, again this was fine as I understood it may have been a procedure due to Covid. Waited to be told our room was ready but unfortunately was not told until I went to reception again myself. Room - not great at all. Clean but old and dated. The first room we were placed in faced the bus stop and was awfully small and cramped, I called reception straight away to advise I was not happy, I was told this is what I had paid for. I said I would pay to upgrade and was told no room available. After ending the conversation I noticed the aircon was broken so called reception again to advise and was given a new room straight away. No ironing facilities in room as advertised on the website. If you were lucky you could borrow one from reception and a tatty/ripped ironing board. However there was only 1 available in the whole hotel so were only actually able to iron our clothes 2 nights out of 7 night stay. I would have happily taken my own travel iron but didn't based on the hotel website information. Another family had the same issue and went into town to buy an iron to use. Pool - The pool is presented like a beach, very nice and relaxing. Hard working staff at the pool bar/restaurant. Food at the restaurant was nice and big portions but the full menu was not available. A family had ordered a lot of food and asked for an extra portion of fries but were told this was not available. I found this strange as most of the meals on offer came with fries so didn't understand why this would be difficult to serve. Food - We were booked as half board. We requested to upgrade to all inclusive but were told this was not available, although it was advertised at the reception area and outside the dinner hall. It was advertised at 12 euro extra per person per day which I believe would have been a good deal to allow us to enjoy a few drinks at the pool and on an evening. The food in the main dining hall was pretty awful, quite repetitive with a slightly different sauce each night.After speaking with other guests, the opinion of the food seemed to be the same. The chef on the evening was quite aggressive, she noticed that we had only been in the first night of our holiday and although we looked to see what was on offer had not actually chosen to eat there the following two nights. She questioned what the problem was and advised her food was very good every night. It was quite an uncomfortable exchange. Breakfast was just ok. Location - Very good! The hotel is set in a beautiful area which seemed to be popular with more locals then tourists. We ate out and had drinks at a few places nearby,they were all great. There is also a bus stop directly outside the hotel which takes you into Corfu Town, it was a reasonably short journey and cost less then 2 euros per person. General - Most staff were pleasant and friendly, particularly those serving at the pool bar, lobby bar and restaurant. I feel like we were really disappointed and let down by the standard of the hotel after staying in 4* hotels before this was just no where near the quality I have experienced before. A beautiful area but would not return to the hotel.
