Lovely short breakHad a lovely stay at Blackaddie. Comfortable room and fabulous food. Couple of things though. 1. Didnt like the tone of the directive saying no food and drink not purchased in the hotel to be consumed in the room. If evidence is found of breaching the rules a charge will be made! 2. From the outset Jane and Ian made it quite plain they didnt agree with the mask wearing guidance and by the second morning Jane wasnt wearing one at all. Made those of us who were abiding by the rules feeling a bit like silly scaredy-cats! As I said....the food was delicious.

Sunday 20th September. My husband and I had been recommended to stay here because of the food. We were not disappointed and would definitely return. In a lovely quiet situation we slept very well. There was a lovely view to the garden from the bedroom window if you over looked the courtyard below the window which could be tidied up.

The hidden gem that is Blackaddie!Blackaddie sits in a wonderfully scenic and peaceful spot on the banks of the Nith in the border counties. We were warmly welcomed by Daniel who showed us up to our room which was tastefully decorated with lovely views out over the gardens and the new greenhouse. But of course, the main reason people go to Blackaddie is for the food. And what a treat that was! Ian McAndrew is a true master of the art of cookery and produced three dinners for us that will remain long in our memories. Such flavours and textures - works of art for both the eye and the taste buds. One example alone was so exquisite that the meal could have ended there and then - lobster with a tomato jelly that had to be tasted to be believed. Such care to detail on every dish and superb presentation and seasonality. Go and eat this mans food before its too late! A gem of a place excellently run by Ian and his wife, Jane Sent from my iPhone

Nice but Over PricedThe hotel looks quite nice from the outside, but unfortunately whilst it is a nice retreat the rooms are not value for money. The Ptarmigan room looks inviting on the website but at £200 for the night, it is nothing special when you actually see it and sorry to say an upmarket Premier Inn can look better. Cannot fault the service which is very helpful and attentive and while the food was cooked to perfection, there is a limited choice on a rather expensive £65 per person menu. A relaxing stay with friendly staff, but over priced for what you get and unfortunately cannot recommend.

Amazing foodJust experienced a 2 night food break at Blackaddie Country House Hotel and the food was incredible. So many amazing flavours imaginatively combined. Very reasonably priced as well. The rooms are very comfortable and the customer service is excellent. Thanks so much for a relaxing break.
