Great location, friendly hosts, clean and comfortable hotel

The hotel is just outside the very centre of Malcesine, in a great location just over the road from the footpath which takes you alongside the lake and into the winding streets of this lovely town. The traghetto (small car ferry which takes foot passengers) is also at hand and from the ferry you can easily get to Limone, Torbole and Riva. Our room (204) wasn't huge but was big enough for us and spotlessly clean, with very comfortable beds, a desk, tea and coffee making facilities, snacks were available and the mini bar was well stocked with wine, beer, soft drinks and water at bar prices, and there was free wi-fi. It wasn't hard to get supplies - we ran out of milk for coffee but just went downstairs to ask for some. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The bedroom has air conditioning - and like most air conditioning it can be noisy when you're sleeping. But it was available on demand day and night (again, like most aircon units, cuts out if you leave windows/doors open) and effective. It was very hot when we were there - we were walking back from town at midnight in shirtsleeves - so we needed the aircon and it didn't let us down! There is noise from the road during the day, but not so much at night. It didn't bother me at all - but I use earplugs wherever I go. The bathroom was spacious and again, very clean. The shower was small and basic but functional and a hairdryer is supplied. The balcony, equipped with table and chairs, had a magnificent view across the lake. Breakfast was continental - with scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, toast, ham, salami, cheese, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, muesli, cereals, tea and coffee, smoothie maker with fresh fruit and veg supplied, homemade jam, fresh bread, honey and homemade cake. As much as you want, on a buffet system. Staff kept the supplies coming during breakfast - and again, if anything ran out, it was easy enough to ask for more. It may not be what you're used to at home, but there's no denying there's a variety! There are some children's toys available if little ones need a distraction, and the breakfast room has a clear view over the lake - and a balcony, if you want to dine al fresco. The hotel has undergone some upgrades over the last year. The new pool is small but well equipped with sunbeds, and some pool toys. There is a poolside shower, and a poolside bathroom, also with a shower. There's also a hot tub, and a further sun terrace. The bar is open during the day, for snacks, ice cream and drinks. There's no evening food service, but there are local places to eat, and town isn't far away. It's a lovely, lovely place - and the ONLY difficulty you might have that I can see is if you have mobility problems and difficulty with slopes and stairs. It is a 20 minute stroll into town - but it's such a beautiful view each day - with the changing lakescape of windsurfers, sailboats, sailboarders etc to admire as you go. Breathtakingly beautiful. All in all, a fantastic stay.

    My 50th birthday

4 of us have just returned from an amazing stay at this hotel. I have to say we had an outstanding stay the views from our room where breath taking waking up looking over the lake. The staff at the hotel spoke excellent English and would take time out to find out bus times and train times for or visits. The church and the cable car is a must also visit Verona as that is also beautiful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend it.

Fantastic hotel and staff with amazing views

Wow is all i can say about the views from this hotel. Stayed at Casa Marinella for the weekend of September 21st for a friends 50th birthday and what a beautiful place to celebrate in. The 2 sisters Sabrina and Marinella who own the hotel took time out to chat with us daily and were on hand to help us find train and bus times. The chambermaid and the young man that works there also took time out to advise on places to see. Breakfast was adequate with plenty of choice and rooms were cleaned to an excellent standard. The men in are party made use of the pool and seemed to be having fun with the inflatables. Malcesine is a beautiful little town that is well worth visiting with lots of little restaurants, bars and shops. The views from the castle are outstanding and you can even get married up there overlooking the lake. We took the cable car up the mountain which is a must and also took a boat trip over to Limone. You can catch a bus from Malcesine to Verona which is also well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend this hotel and if ever I were to visit Lake Garda again I would 100% stay here. Thank you for making it a truly remarkable stay.

    Cracking spot

Weve had a wonderful week here. Situated about 15 minutes stroll from the centre of Malcesine, this small but chic hotel is run by 2 sisters Marinella and Sabina. What a great find. Its is spotlessly clean. There have clearly been some recent renovations and I suspect there might be a bit more to come. The buffet breakfast is typical European and was fresh and tasteful presented. Our room (205) was on the south end of the building with a partial lake view with the castle in the distance. Immaculate is the best word I can find to describe the room and the whole hotel and grounds. There is a pleasant garden with a hot tub. Comfortable sun loungers and reclining chairs are provided as well as tables for drinks and snacks from the small bar. We would have no hesitation in recommending this place and would definitely stay here again.

Basic and practical for our 2 night stay

Very well situated near to Malcesine, which I think is the best location following our drive around the whole of Lake Garda. The raised position of the hotel provides for great views, no lift though so bear in mind when lugging suit cases up five flights of stairs. Receptionist was a little frosty, other staff members friendly, breakfast well presented. Room was ok, a little dated with old furniture and sockets etc but clean. Only there 2 nights and just the job for a short stay.
