    Standards still exist, lovely experience

Excellent hotel and excellent staff, we've just got back Oct 2017, the hotel is dated, food classic Ischian, the staff endearing (lovely). If you are looking for faults then you will find faults. We had a great breakfast everyday, cereal, bread cheese, ham, boiled egg, etc. etc., coffee, tea, juice, more than enough. Great evening meal, we went half-board which I recommend, anti pasti - selection of cold starters, first main course pasta or something else, 2nd main, fish or meat/something-else, pudding/sweet. Evening drinks extra, but good value - bottle of Epomeo Red 8, large Peroni 4. We had a fantastic stay, if you don't like foreign food or you expect 5* then this isn't the place for you, this is a traditional Ischian hotel run by an owner and staff with a passion for good customer care. ~90% of the guests are German, the staff speak fluent German, English is a bit of hit and miss at times, but always fun and there'll always be a lovely member of staff who can speak english and explain everything. The only complaint Karen my partner had was the towels were a bit thin, they are, shock horror, a bit like a bath sized drying up towel. Like I said, if you look for faults... It's off the beaten track, ~15 - 20 mins walk from the port. We walked, but Karen would probably have taken a taxi on the first day of arrival; however we did arrive a bit late having first got off at Procida and walking up towards where we thought the hotel was until realising we were on the wrong island! Demanding customers don't need to go here, anybody looking for a cost effective, solid, homely, endearing, relaxed place to stay type hotel couldn't be better served. We loved it.

    Basic Hotel

Very Basic dated hotel, but clean and staff where good. Food was okay, I have read other reviews about the food and I am amazed that people gave good reviews, the food is not great. The island of Ischia was very disappointing, not what I was expecting, I have been to many parts of Italy , and found Ischia to be dirty and the people not very friendly.

    Awful service and dreadful food

Visited September 2017. I was drawn to this hotel by the description of it being a really friendly family run hotel. That's so not true . The family were rude and ununviting. Visit here and you will always get a sunbed by the pool at any time of day - the reason us because people stay there then desert the place during the day! We arrived after travelling 15 hours and had to wait in an unattended recepti9n area for 20 minutes. Eventually a young woman arrived to check us in. She took my case from me and complained it was very heavy (it was 15kg and I was happy to carry my own case but she snatched it from me and stormed off). We were shown to.the room and she left after telling us dinner was 8pm and breakfast at 8am. She was really abrupt. The room was very small but pretty and spotless. Very clean. The tv was tiny and so high up on the wall that you couldn't actually watch it . The room was really hot and I noticed an air con unit above the wardrobe. Had to go to reception to ask for the remote control for it. Again, met with an abrupt attitude . Asked off there was somewhere we could get a snack and drink and was pointed to the pool bar. Pretty area but deserted and that's because the staff make you feel unwelcome . First night dinner- omg!! Worst food in the world and I am not exaggerating. Got a chicken thigh and 20 peas. It's like a canteen, not a restaurant. They made us share a table with a German couple. Lovely couple but a bit awkward when the table is so small and you are knocking elbows with strangers. We ate out after that - but ventured back one last night. True fact - the curly haired grey waiter (A bad tempered frowning man)marched up to us and barked "fish". That's it. I said "no thank you". So he barked "meat then" and stormed off. What he brought us was inedible. What mwar was it? It's a shame because the hotel is pretty but the horrible unwelcoming service is the worst I've experienced and I'm well travelled. They make you wear a swimming cap in the pool - you can buy it from reception for 2 euros. But why? I didn't actually mind that but I thunk it is to stop hair getting into the filters. Never had that before. Gave us a laugh though. It's a good 15-20 mins walk into the main area where the shops and bars are. The taxis are an absolute rip off - 10 euros for a 5 min trip from the main taxi rank to the hotel (which is just a 10 minute walk but I had a blister). It was 15 euros from the hotel to the are a where the shops / bars were (a 15 min walk). The hotel is mainly geared up for German guests. The family appear to be 2 girls, 1 man (rude waiter) and the parents . The hotel has so much potential but just go elsewhere people, the rudeness of the service and making you feel uncomfortable is just awful. Good points: Really pretty little hotel Rooms are absolutely spotless Good views of the hills Quiet Free air con Free safe Bad points: Rude staff Worst food ever - inedible Unwelcoming Ischia is beautiful. If you book this hotel just use it for sleeping there. Eat elsewhere. Be prepared to walk unless you are happy to be ripped off by the high taxi prices What stands out for me about this hotel? The horrendous food and unfriendly family.

    TREMENDOUS ******

We spent twelve fabulous nights in the hotel as a family group of 7. The pool is fantastic and not the usual over chlorinated kind. The rooms were spotless, and beds were made, and the room tidied and cleaned to a very high standard every single day. Breakfast was a very varied buffet, and the shaded al fresco cafe at the side of the pool was great for lunch. We had dinner on a few occasions and it was fine. The waiter Philippe was very kind and friendly to us especially towards the children. The hotel is spotlessly clean in every area. But what makes this place super special are the owner Michele and his daughter Barbara, who treat you as long lost family members. Barbara organised a boat trip round the island for us which was incredible fun. She also arranged and drove our son for an emergency dental appointment. She is a wonderful girl. Ischia has much fancier hotels, but, if you want a lovely friendly family hotel in Ischia Hotel Cleopatra is the BEST!

    The Best!

Fantastic family hotel with the best service! Beautiful pool area and a quiet, calm hotel with an excellent restaurant. We will come back! Easy to transport around the Island with car or motorcykel. Lovely to visit the thermal beach on the north side, and also cCstello Aragonese on the Island.
