View & Only View will win your heart

So this was our family trip during december-19. We had planned visiting AULI few months before so it was pretty much planned trip. Uttarakhand: When you plan a trip to this state majority people would believe its trip to temples & nothing more.So we planned that there would be no temple visits just family trip with full of enjoyment.Since it was December the chardham routes are closed. In uttarakhand you need to travel by road transport that is only way to reach AULI. After reaching dehradun airport it takes atleast 12-13 hours to reach AULI so we splitted in 2 days. Airport to Rudrapayag & then next day early morning Rudraprayag to Joshimath. The whole char dham yatra route is under construction & work is carried out simultaneously so there are lots of stoppages which may effect your travel by 2 hours. To reach clifftop club make sure you reach Joshimath Gondola before 4. The only way to reach this hotel is via gondola or you need to trek with your luggage which no one would prefer. So First impression we got was absolute beauty. To have a hotel at such altitude is just awesome. The check in process was smooth & we had suite room. Our stay was for 2 Nights 3 Days. The day we reached was clear skies & cold but it had prediction of moderate snowfall in the night & guess it was snow in the night so our next day was going to be awesome. Food at the hotel is bit disappointing as the time we visited is not one of peak season of AULI & hence there was limited options. There is no other options you can explore for food so had to be in the hotel itself. Hotel has small indoor game zone with pool, table tennis etc. The hotel infrastructure is quite old & definitely needs upgrade due to amount we pay for the stay but i found each penny worth just because of view, & climate. The rooms only have heater facility . Overall its must visit place if you want some peace, climate & wonderful surroundings Attached are image of views from hotel. We were quite lucky to get absolutely 2 different climates during the stay.

    Clifftop Club Auli

The experience is really sad and bad with everything unhygienic in this COVID situation right from reception to washroom, bedding...anything and everything else which you deem as BASICs otherwise these days. I pre booked this for 3 nights but dont feel like staying for a day. The prices are of luxury resort (15K per night) but complete waste of money. Will not recommend to anyone even if they offer for free. I am attaching some pics also which I just clicked, these are of so called suite they offered to us

Feb 9th-10th of 2021 at Cliff Top Club Auli

Usually hotel staff arrive at 8th Tower of Cable Car to receive guests to carry luggageif informed 1 hr well in advance of boarding the cable car. But seems hotel staff goofed up with some other family who had arrived 15 minutes before us. So we had to self carry our bagpack and handbag from Tower 8 (6th floor) to Hotel. As elevator was non-functional, we had to use iron stairs to go 6 stories down and then another 200 metries descend on mild snowy and more muddy hill. It was a self discovery of route to the hotel. Advice u to travel light. Dump your redundant luggage items in your car at Joshimath(starting point of cable car). Carry only 1 bagpack per adult. Also do not miss to rent snow boots at Joshimath cable car point. It is priced starting at Rs50 per pair. Cable car ticket is priced at Rs1000 per person (to n fro ticket is mandatory). Return ticket is valid upto 7 days. Kids upto 5 years njoy free ride. Our dates had got extended by a day due to Glacier burst at Nanda Devi in Chamoli district. We had pre-planned 2 night stay at this only hotel available at Tower 8 of Joshimath Cable car topeway. Initially hotel declined to offer more than a night stay as all 18 rooms were pre-booked and there was zero scope of accomodating/adjusting 1 more night. I was furious and frustated as i had checkedin hotel at 4:30 pm only. So idea of checking out next morning by 11am was like visiting Auli to mere spend a night in hotel room. But Mr Harjeet at reception desk was kind enough to provide us another night as there was a vacancy available last minute. We were rejoiced. Hotel staff usually welcome guests by a cup of tea or coffee. There are studio rooms, 1bhk, 3bhk available in the hotel. We had 1bhk booked. Do not expect best of luxuries as sustaining a hotel at such a high altitude in itself is a great task especially when Uttarakhand govt is not inclined to help this pvt player and tourists with any kind of facility. E.g. uninteruppted power, tap water, public urinals, proper road to hotel, convenience or medical store, etc. Every food item has to be carried to 8th Tower by hired porters who charge exhorbitant fees per trip which shoots up price of every item 2X. E.g. packed water bottle of 1 litre comes at Rs40-45 instead of Rs20. So is maggie, biscuits, chocolates, wafers, etc. Advice you to carry your snack items and toiletries like cream, soap, shampoo, body wash, cosmetics, etc. ATV bikes charge Rs500 one way ..from hotel to Tower 10. Another Rs500 for return trip. Advice u to book both ways in advance. Payment to driver can be made once u return. 1 ATV bike can accomodate driver, 2 adults and 1 kid upto 5 yrs max. Jeep charges on similar lines but it can accomodate 6 pax easily. Halipad service for 10 mins cost Rs3000 per person. Snow sliding is charged Rs50 per slide. One has to use haggling skills here. It is all demand and supply that decides price afterall. Tower 10 offers lot of snow compared to Tower 8. There is small snack point at Tower 10 which offers maggie(must have), pasta, coffee, tea, omelette, etc. Beware of 2-3 furry dogs there, although they are harmless. Hotel has all basics with 24by7 tap water. Lunch and dinner has limited and repeated items like black daal, paneer/aloo combo with something. Breakfast has limited items as well. Food is good enough to survive well. Hotel is RCI certified. So many RCI members can be seen booking the hotel. There are heaters in the rooms without which one cannot survive the cold. Rooms are warmer as lot of wood covering outside and inside on walls. Hotels need to change their carpets, ben linen, taoestry. Wall demands fresh coat of paint as well. Same staff manages kitchen, room service, checkins, maintenance, etc. Difficult to get staffs at such high peaks.
