    Disappointed

Marriott Titanium Elite. One night stay. Rewards night (Points). Worst possible room overlooking low roof of hotel with air handlers/compressors right outside the window! Staff says fully booked but website still offering similar King bedded room at a discount! Not all employees wearing PPE even when on elevators! No evidence of Marriotts stated COVID-19 precautions, so no way to know if the room has been correctly sanitized according to Marriotts directive. Disappointed!

Southern Hospitality Shines Very Brightly At This Fantastic Hotel!

As a Marriott Titanium Guest, our family [husband, wife and two young daughters] decided to take a road trip from the Tampa Bay area (FL) to Phenix City (AL) / Columbus (GA) to spend four (4) nights at Courtyard Columbus Phenix City / Riverfront during Thanksgiving Break. Our goal was to both explore the immediate vicinity on foot, on bicycle and on the water (white water rafting on the Chattahoochee River), but also take short road trips to explore Auburn, Alabama and go hiking in Warm Springs, Georgia; Pine Mountain, Georgia and Providence Canyon State Park in Lumpkin, Georgia. Needless to say, our stay was absolutely fantastic on so many levels ... Southern Hospitality at its' finest! This relatively new contemporary hotel [96 rooms and 3 suites], with ample convenient free parking both on-site and at the parking garage across the street from the hotel, is located on the Chattahoochee River at the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge, which affords quick, easy and convenient access from the hotel to Uptown in Columbus, Georgia. Since the hotel is right on the Chattahoochee River, the views of rapids are stunning and ever changing and you can easily walk from the hotel to one of the rafting companies to go white water rafting. Further, there are numerous shops, bars and restaurants of all varieties just steps away from the hotel on both sides of the river. In other words, the location of the hotel is ideal to explore this part of Alabama and Georgia. Immediately upon making our four (4) night stay at an excellent nightly rate, we emailed General Manager, Rachel Lamar, and inquired about the health & safety precautions employed at the hotel due to Covid-19 and further advised her of our multiple special requests for our upcoming stay related to our "Thanksgiving Break Road Trip", including indoor, safe storage of our three bicycles to take advantage of the numerous biking trails in the immediate vicinity, including the Fall Line Trace bike trail (11 miles) and the Chattahoochee Riverwalk (15 miles). In short order, Ms. Lamar replied to our email in which she outlined a lengthy list of CDC recommended safety precautions implemented at the hotel and she readily granted ALL of our special requests. This timely and comprehensive response from Ms. Lamar did not come as a surprise to us given how active she is in reading and promptly replying to her guests on Trip Advisor as well as the Marriott.com website, which is but a mere sign of her commitment to exemplary customer service and true Southern Hospitality. Not surprisingly, we were overjoyed with such a response from Ms. Lamar and we all really looked forward to our upcoming four (4) night stay at Courtyard Columbus Phenix City / Riverfront during Thanksgiving Break. Our initial visit to the Courtyard Columbus Phenix City / Riverfront did not disappoint, especially when we arrived for a very late check-in (well after 1:00 am) to discover that Ms. Lamar had unexpectedly provided us with a complimentary upgrade to one of the hotel's three Suites based upon our elite status and availability upon our very late arrival. The check in process with Alex was a breeze and after safely storing our three bicycles in the locked front office, we arrived at our Suite on the 4th floor to find that everything was exactly as we had requested with absolutely no detail left out. Ms. Lamar and her staff actually exceeded our expectations by providing our two young daughters with a basket of gifts, including coloring books and colored pencils as well as a nice array of "local" sweet and savory delicacies just for them, a large bowl of fresh fruit and Evian water for our entire family and warm and comfy slippers for all four of us. What an incredible and delightful surprise for the entire family! We simply loved our gorgeous Suite, which which was quite large with two Queen Beds, a fridge, a microwave, two distinct sitting areas (one of which with a small couch and coffee table and the second of which with a large comfy chair), a desk, a chest of drawers, a closet, two (2) large wall-mounted LCD flat screen TVs with both cable and internet channels and a large full bathroom. Both of the Queen beds were very comfortable and the housekeeping staff provided extra towels and ample bath products each day. Further, the cleanliness of the room was exemplary, including hand wipes, and for this we want to recognize the entire housekeeping staff, especially Tamara and Patsy (whom always had a wonderful smile on her face and we couldn't hear enough of her sweet Southern accent!). In addition, the complimentary high-speed WiFi was excellent. We enjoyed the freshly made breakfast by Arlington at The Bistro, as well as the conversation with him every morning. Highlights of the daily breakfast included the sublime hand-crafted Starbucks cappuccinos made by Arlington; Greek Yogurt parfaits with fresh strawberries, blackberries and blueberries; the belly-busting breakfast burrito; the tasty breakfast sandwiches and the sweet blueberry muffins. The Food & Beverage Manager, Ryan Lake, whom we saw several times throughout the duration of our stay, suggested that we place our breakfast order with the front desk the evening before such that our breakfast would be ready at the precise time we had requested the next morning such that we could promptly bring our breakfast to our Suite to eat. What a fantastic suggestion! Needless to say, we all finished breakfast every morning bursting at the seams (in a good way) and for this we couldn't thank Arlington and Ryan, enough. Furthermore, Ryan was also kind enough to suggest that we take the short drive (less than 35 minutes) to Providence Canyon State Park ("The Little Grand Canyon"), which we did and we thoroughly enjoyed hiking throughout the gorgeous scenery. Thanks Ryan! Besides the foregoing, we enjoyed complimentary access to the fairly large and well-equipped fitness center (with sanitizing wipes throughout and certain machines blocked off for social distancing purposes) plus we enjoyed taking our daily bicycle rides along the numerous bike trails immediately adjacent to the hotel. Had it not been late November, we would have definitely taken advantage of the hotel's outdoor pool and large deck overlooking the Chattahoochee River. Furthermore, we want to recognize the incredible team at the front desk, especially Ciara, whom assisted us with our bicycles every day. Every team member with whom we came in contact on an almost daily basis, including Ms. Lamar, Ryan, Arlington, Tamara, Patsy, Alex, Ciara and the rest of the front desk staff and the house-keeping staff really went out of their way to make our entire family, especially our two young daughters, feel welcomed. The extraordinary customer service that we received before and during our stay made this property an eleven out of ten in our book! Congratulations to Ms. Lamar for assembling such a great team and leading them with a overriding goal of excellent customer service and Southern Hospitality. We are already planning our return stay at this fantastic hotel. You will be well served by selecting this hotel for your base of operations in the greater Phenix City (AL) / Columbus (GA) area. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed!

Decent but beware of parking charge

As a lifetime Gold (soon to be platinum) I am a loyal Marriott fan. This property has so much potential but it is just not there yet. It is almost new and right on the river so location is awesome. Upon arrival you see a huge banner that reads walk-in specials. Not a good first impression. Check-in: lukewarm welcome, no acknowledgment of Elite status, no upgrade. I ask if there is a charge for parking. Response, its built into rate. I say is it in my nightly price or a separate charge? Answer. Separate charge. Hmm? I say dont charge me Im not parking here. Room: not a good first impression. Cabinets and drawers hanging open. Someones mask laying on table. Less than half a roll of toilet paper. AND no backup roll. Bedside lamps didnt work. Smoke alarm blinking. Check-out: I stop by to confirm no parking charge. Of course it was on there. Here is my problem with this nickel and dime tactic. It is a regular non Secure lot. No gate. No fence. No security. You are not in an urban area. There are dozens of city spaces just over the curb and a free public garage directly across the street. I think they have gotten away with this due to a lack of competition. THREE new hotels are opening very shortly just across the river in Columbus. I will be staying at one of those next time.

Motel 6 Experience at Marriott Prices

I'm a physician providing emergency coverage in the local hospital for the COVID-19 outbreak since mid-July. I've had numerous long stays in this hotel. I figured out very quickly that if the employees don't want to do something, they simply will NOT do it. I've had to BEG repeatedly for basic amenities (towels, sheets, functioning alarm clock, etc). Usually even asking up to 5 times, the requests are denied; and I just learn to do without. During a recent 16 night stay, I submitted a WRITTEN request to the front desk staff on day 8 to have new sheets delivered to my room. I didn't even ask that anyone change the sheets for me. The request was denied. I was so angry that I had to get up at 4am the next morning to wash my own sheets in the laundromat before my 13 hour shift. I complained in candid detail to the manager, Rachel LaMar, about this issue. I told her clearly that I intended to share my experience online if she did not make changes quickly. I told her that I am an exhausted healthcare worker, and this is unacceptable at a Marriott. She sent a note of generic insincere apologies along with 2 bottles of water, 2 cookies and some trivial amount of points added to my account. On day 12 of the 16 night stay, I submitted a WRITTEN request to the exact same front desk person for new towels to be sent to my room. Same story. Request denied. I washed my own towels at 4am the next morning in the laundromat. The manager did NOTHING to correct the glaring problem. It's OK to ask customers to use the same sheets and towels for 16 days at a Motel 6, but not at a Marriott!! Healthcare workers are EXHAUSTED, and I am furious that this cheap hotel has treated us this way. Why does Marriott allow its name to be used at this horrible hotel????? The owner of this hotel is a cheap.....

    Clean and friendly

I stayed one night and arrived late. My experience was positive the front desk agent was personable and the room met all of the promised cleaning requirements. I especially appreciated the sanitation stations in the elevator landing. There was a great looking walking path along the river I did not get to use but would have had I been there longer.
