  Excellent stopover - especially for dog owners

  This hotel is an excellent venue for us as a half-way stage on the journey to and from our second home in the Dordogne. We disagree with the posts about the poor welcome in reception, having only ever found the staff on reception to be cordial and extremely helpful. We stayed in a superior room with a refurbished bathroom. The size was excellent for us and our four-legged companion who had a sofa complete to himself and plenty of room to stretch his legs. { We have tried many 'so-called' dog friendly hotels and this is not always the case!} The food in the restaurant is excellent. it is clearly popular and deservedly so. We have travelled extensively, with and without our dog, incuding to hotels across Europe and beyond, many of which with Michelin-starred restaurants. As four star hotels go, this restaurant is above-average and the 'so,so' reviews are really neither fair or accurate. Nevertheless, sadly the restaurant service during this visit did not live up to the hotel's usual standards. We waited over 20 minutes at our table, not even to be offered drinks and eventually got up to leave, with the intention of eating elsewhere. Fortunately, the hotel manager on reception and not the Maitre D, saved the day. He took charge, serving us champagne on the house and offering his personal attention throughout the rest of our meal. Although it initially soured an otherwise happy visit, within a little while we had settled to yet another delightful meal! We shall return!!

  Nice hotel with great garden

  The good feeling begins when you enter the driveway up to the hotel. Then you know you are in for a good experience. The standard room was small, but good enough. The garden area is very nice and the staff is super helpful with drinks and snacks. . The hotel in itself is fair priced - the "hidden costs" are in the restaurant (which was very good, but not cheap) and in the 17 euro pr. person for breakfast. And even though the croissants were really good, I am uncertain if that breakfast was worth the money But hey.. for a couple of days, this was really nice!

  Won't be going back

  Staff very unwelcoming and unhelpful. Hotel grounds were lovely though. Very conveniently situated close to motorway. Local town was completely dead and not worth going to. OK for 1 night stay but we won't be returning.

  Good stopover in central France

  A good hotel for a stopover on the way to the south of France, in a lovely setting. The rooms have been nicely refurbished, the standard room is small but well equipped. Very spacious grounds/garden with well-spaced seating. good for social-distancing! We enjoyed our dinner outside on the terrace. The only slight negative was that we ordered a bottle of wine, but it did not arrive, and we had to contact the waiter during our first course to be told it was not in stock. Really we should have been advised of this earlier and offered the wine menu again. It was soon sorted out though. Overall a very enjoyable stay. We stayed again on our way back, this time dining inside in the orangery as it was wet and cold outside, and the wine selection was fine this time.

  Appaling service

  We stopped for 1 nightat this hotel on our way to destination. The rooms were comfortable and the pool was enjoyed by the kids. There is also a nice parrot in the entrance. Our experience at the restaurant however was really very bad. After 2 hours we still only had received our starter... we asked and made a complain that after a day of driving, with 2 children we were not amused it took so long. They told us there was a problem in the kitchen. This can always happen of course but there was no apology from their side at all. Just a sorry but nobody said or suggested a coffee on the house or anything to come towards us. We ended up paying quite big amount and they seemed so annoyed and very uninterested... The next morning we told the receptionist again. they again only said sorry but with no kindness ir interest. Pitty, but we will not return here again!
