Beautiful resort hotel tucked away in gorgeous surroundingsI travel to Chengdu several times a year on business. Typically I have stayed in the city (close to the airport) at the Kempinski - a nice city location, but overpriced and (in my opinion) overrated hotel. So, when my supplier recommended I stay at a hotel closer to the factory (Four Points), not wanting to break out of my comfort zone, I pushed for the status-quo and a room at the Kempinski. After another e-mail and a strong recommendation, I was persuaded to try the Four Points Sheraton. Boy, am I glad I listened! After exiting the main highway (about an hour from the airport), and a short drive through a small town, I found myself on a beautiful country road, surrounded by stunning hills and flowering fields. The scenery was breathtaking. Believe it or not, two weeks earlier it was apparently even more so, as it was the peak of the cherry blossom season. Just missed it! For someone used to life in the city (I currently live in the Guangzhou area) this was a breath of fresh air (both literally and metaphorically). After 10 to 15 minutes of winding roads through a country paradise, we arrived at the hotel. The hotel itself stands out, isolated and contrasted against the country surroundings - apart from a golf course, there is very little architecture nearby. Just nature. As I entered and checked-in, my first impressions of the place was modern, clean, and very new. Perhaps it was the time of the year, but it was also very quiet - I ran into very few guests. The staff welcomed me with big smiles and checked me in with ease - they were very friendly. It is always great to start with smiles and a good-hearted welcome. My room was on the 8th floor (the top or one of the top floors). It was quite large with a modern, yet fitting (for the country) décor. It had a large balcony with a view of the surrounding hills and fields. No roads/cars in sight. The air was so fresh and crisp, I kept the balcony door open the entire time (can't do that in Guangzhou). It was very calm and peaceful in the evenings. Nothing but the sounds of nature. Great large bathroom with a separate shower and tub. Large comfortable bed.The room matched up well with any of the five star hotels I've stayed at before. Like the rest of the hotel, it was very clean - almost new. Both evenings I ate with my supplier in a private room at the hotel restaurant. Hot pot the first night and traditional Szechuan dishes the second. The food was amazing. A fan of spicy dishes, I was in heaven. The "la zi ji ding" and "ma puo do fu" were the best I've ever had - and I have had a lot! Compliments to the chef. Once my dinner guest left, I headed to the hotel bar, next to the lobby for a drink. A cozy little place with a good selection of local and international beers. Cool modern décor. There is a small bar surrounded by relaxing lounge type tables/seats. Both nights I was the only person in there (but I was told it gets busier on the weekends). It ended up just being me at the bar with the bartender/restaurant manager, Cherry (a fitting name considering blossoms in the area). She turned out to be a "blossom" herself. She was really welcoming and great to talk to. She answered all my questions about the local Pujiang area and also suggested places to visit and sightsee on my next trip. Really friendly and helpful - a great ambassador for the hotel. All in all, my two days at the hotel was one of those rare experiences where a business trip feels more like a vacation. It was like stepping out of a factory/meeting room, straight into a resort. I wish all my business stays were like this. I am already looking forward to returning on my next business trip/"vacation" in April. Oh, and the price was really cheap - about 1/3 the price of the Kempinski and 3x better. So, if you do plan a trip in the area (business, sightseeing, golf) this hotel is a hidden gem. It is still relatively new, so I expect it to become more and popular with time. Get there soon!!

Great hotel at a quiet and peacful destinationUpon entering the hotel, you are greeted with kind and warm guest service staff, the room is spacious over looking a nice gold course. Most importantly very quiet environment for relaxation. The restaurants are great with western buffet and exguisit chinese food. The lobby lounge service staff is kind, warm and sweet, with foreign and local beer, special cpmpliments for restaurant manager Yves, Prince and Nick, also lobby lounge Cherry, for their dedicated and attentive service. This is a place I will definately come back with my family. Thank you Four Points for providing an excellent service!

Breakfast needs improvementStayed here before and gave it a glowing review. Those comments still hold. Great hotel. Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Warm rooms. Great restaurants. My only comment about this trip is the breakfast buffet does not seem to match the standard of those other items. I should qualify this as I am coming from a Western perspective. The Chinese breakfast offering - which arguably is tailored to their biggest clientele - could be amazing. From the looks on the faces of the Chinese guests, it likely was. But, as a Western traveler, the breakfast was subpar. Stayed two days and on both days the juices (orange, grapefruit, apple) were next to empty. I sat for 30 minutes both days and they were not refilled. Coffee machine was broken. Hash browns were cold. Bacon was undercooked. Again, the Chinese breakfast looked wonderful. This is their main focus. But, as a Western brand, I would expect the breakfast offering to be better than it was. It was "okay", but when you compare it to all the other great things about the hotel, it falls short. If I was the GM, I would put a little effort into improving it. At the very least, make certain the juice is full and coffee machine working - I assume Chinese drink juice and coffee too. Apart from that, wonderful stay. Love the jogging paths through the forest. Amazing.

Spectacular hotel in a huge green parkThis is a spectacular green hotel, in a huge park off the city centre. In the mornings, you can breathe the fresh air, and hear the birds singing. Or, you have a morning walk enjoying intact nature. The rooms are very elegantly equipped, with lots of wood and decors, very modern, yet still cozy. Breakfast range is great with Chinese food, a little bit less with European styles. But: who cares? Chinese breakfast is wonderful. The conference area is simply fantastic and technically equipped with the most modern facilities.
