  Location isn't everything

  We stayed in for a night with my fiancee as part of a group trip and we were rather disappointed. A"couple's room" had simply two single beds pushed against each other and were kind of stiff (we expected to have a big bed for two and softer mattress), the walls were yellowish, not a lot of space to move around, the light fixture was dirty and they didn't have A/C but we had at least a small ventilator. The bathroom was incredibly small and almost all made of plastic. The worst was probably hearing everything our neighbor from above were saying (and especially her heels) and having our own share of the discotheque's music all night long. The breakfast though was nice with a lot of choice, the hotel is located just in front of the train station and close to restaurants and shops. It wasn't a great stay for us but it probably would be a good choice for a single traveler who wish to visit around.

  Holiday

  Lovely hotel, good location right next to train station. Double room was two big beds pushed together which was fine. Very comfortable, clean and spacious. Nice balcony to sit with beautiful views of mountains and lake. Clean bathroom with double sinks, bath and hand shower. Room cleaned and tidied every day. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is continental and good choice. All TV channels in German or Italian. Altogether a very enjoyable stay.

  Bien para vacaciones

  Es un hotelito sencillo, muy cerca de la estación, lo cual facilita la llegada, muy cerca del lago y la ciudad antigua. Las habitaciones cuentan con lo básico, incluyendo ventilador lo cual es necesario en verano. Baño completo. El desayuno es regular.

  Forget it

  Wanted to reserve a room right before the film festival and since there were only two hotels available (the Belvedere for over 500Eur/night or Montaldi for 100Eur/night) I decided to reserve the latter one. It was a bad decision. Ended up moving to an other hotel in Muralto (no refund given). This place is incredibly shabby. The bathroom is one big piece of moulded plastic, from the sixties. Towels overused and wrinkled. Therefore even if they are clean, both the bathroom and the towels give the impression of being dirty. Soap comes in a dispenser. No air-con just a small ventillator in the room. At the desk there is a place where once was a minibar, showing the obvious signs of some unfortunate defrosting. Stains on the wall and in the small wardrobe.(no hangers) The ceiliing panels would often rattle (hitting them with something would temporarily dampen the noise) The elevator is still the one-door model, when you only have a door on the corridor, but not inside, something that I am reluctant to use. Sadly, the building conveys noise so well that I could hear people watching tv two floors above me, the noise of the kitchen two floors below me, and it was also disturbing that one could not open the window as people on the balconies would be smoking 24/7. Of the two beds one was comfortable the other overused. The walls and the ventillation system were dirty. At the reception they spoke Italian and some German, only. There is a disco next door. On the positive side: guests were very decent, not noisy or rude, I think most of them were equally startled by the state of this place. The top floor is a workers' inn, but they were decent, as well. Breakfast looked good and fresh and enough. (did not take it, saw it from the window.) It has a great location. Those on the upper floors surely had great views. (I saw the railway station with the big, noisy construction that is going on.) It could easily be the best hotel in Locarno because of its location, but it would need a complete overhaul, or be totally rebuilt because decades of maintenance is lacking there.

  First impression! Hair on the pillow, dirty rug and pubic hair or leg hair in the tiny old bathroom. Quiet room not on the lake side. Ugly rooms. Cant wait for breakfast specially after reading the other comments. No big deal its just for one night but never again.....
