    Happy Hospitality

When you get back from a long, foodless, day's work and arrive shattered off the last ferry from Yell at 10 pm and walk up to the reception anticipating having to beg for a sandwich only to be told that you can have roast lamb with all the trimmings you realise what "hospitality" really means. Thank you VERY much.

    Totally dog friendly

Big room, all you need for your stay. Excellent breakfast, beef sausages are delicious. Friendly and helpful owners. Dog friendly so suited our needs perfectly. Central for all of Shetland so we travelled in a different direction each day.

I WOUKD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN

£175 a night for a room with broken window blinds that dont allow you to sleep because the room is so bright attempted to fix with blu tack I had to buy black bin bags and tape to cover the windows at night The bed is the worst I ever slept in looks like its reclaimed from a rubbish dump the mattress has past its best.the springs are so soft when you sit or lie on it your actually lying on the wooden base The carpet is marked all over The floor is uneven and squeaks and sinks when stood on. The full room is dated and old. The tv is no bigger than a laptop screen. The fire doors are jammed open all the time including overnight The internet is slow The full hotel is just cheap. Reception looks like an office gone bad. Papers files and personal possessions every where Hotel car parking has a hole at the entrance that could take a wheel off a car Overall just not a good place to stay. Every thing done on the cheap. No overnight reception onsite If the room was £35 a night I would say it was still overpriced This hotel would not last five minutes on mainland Scotland its only the 1 of visit tourists to Shetland that keep it going No non slip mat in the bath toilet was so close to the wall you can not sit on it properly No top sheet on the bed. Bed was not changed in a week This is my personal opinion

    Lovely stay

I had a very nice stay at this hotel. My company had originally booked somewhere else and Im glad they changed to this hotel. Owner was very friendly and easy to talk to. Felt very welcome and the hotel had a nice atmosphere. The room was a decent size and had an on-suite which was also a good size. Clean room and a good selection of hot drinks available. One of the best things about this hotel was the food. Had an amazing chicken schnitzel for dinner and a fantastic cooked breakfast the next morning. Service was good and everything was catered for. Would definitely recommend to stay here. I would happily stay here when next visiting Shetland.

A warm, wonderful example of Scottish hospitality

My wife and I stayed at the Herrislea House Hotel from January 25th through the 28th, 2020 and were there to attend the 2020 Up Helly Aa Viking Festival which is held on the last Tuesday of January every year in Lerwick, Shetland Island, Scotland. The Herrislea House Hotel is an eclectic mixture of modern and rustic and is located near Lerwick. The owners, Gordon and Marjorie Williamson, are both native born to this region and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Marjorie is a wonderful cook and hostess and our stay with her was definitely one of highlights of our trip to Scotland. From the hearty Scottish breakfasts and delicious dinners served in the dining room to the midday tea and later wine in the parlor, the owners made us feel warm and welcome. If you want to experience rural Scotland at its best, we strongly recommend a stay at the Herrislea House Hotel.
