  Exotic ryokan with superb hospitality

  From an old town Tsumago and on our way to Matsumoto, we chose to stay overnight at Hirugami Grand Tenshin Hotel. It's getting dark by the time we arrived. We dresses in colorful yugata provided and went down to enjoy the kiseki dinner nicely served by an energetic staff who made us feel welcome and appreciated. The onsen facilities were superb with indoor and outdoor pool. A special outdoor pond was for foot relaxation. The guest room was nice and clean. The souvenir store has lots of interesting local goods to buy. In the morning, we walked to the nearby flea market selling fresh produces and souvenirs. An elderly man put up a little stall to demonstrate his artisan skill of weaving the colorful iron wire into a variety of shapes. He made a dragon dance for us at a very impressive price plus a lucky turtle shape as a symbol for longevity. We left Hirugami with plentiful good souvenirs and fond memory. Wish we have a chance to revisit This hotel again...

  A good place for relexing

  The hotel is so great that staff are willing to provide excellent service despite little English can speak. Food are delicious and refined. It is a good place for relexing and away from busy town working.

  Great Place in Kiso Valley Nagano

  Beautiful place. Hirugami onsen is a really nice little town and this hotel is located right at the river side. When we arrived the kids played in the river. The hotel is really nice, big and bright. Comfortable room, not so big, and very nice public baths. The one on the first floor is an outside and the top floor is an inside one. The sauna was closed due to coronavirus precautions. The breakfast and dinners were really nice. Service is great. The hotel is in a nice location for visiting the Kiso Valley. Places such as Magome and Tsumago are really great to visit. Kiso valley is a beautiful place. We also went for the star gazing event at the top of a mountain however due to the full moon it wasn't that amazing, still fun though. In the morning there is a market outside the hotel. It peaks at about 7:00 AM. Great area of Nagano. Super beautiful.
