    The most average place ever?

Stayed here two nights during a family trip. Wanted to stay closer to the Gathering Place but didn't want to be downtown. This place was pretty easy to access off I-44 and was located in the middle of town in an area with several other nice hotels (not high end...just not dumpy places). Check-in was easy. Room key did quit working during our stay which is always annoying but I am beginning to expect it no matter the chain. The room was bright. Probably the best lit hotel room I have ever stayed in. HVAC was a little noisy when it cycled on but it seemed to be the normal rattle I have come to expect everywhere that goes away after the unit starts up. Bed was firm for my taste and I would put it in the firm/extra firm neighborhood. I sleep on a hybrid coil/foam at home so sleep wasn't great. Breakfast was nice and had plenty of options including items to take to-go. Plenty of the normal breakfast things hotels have but it was nice to see multiple meat/protein choices both days (they had BACON!!) No waffle maker but they had a push button pancake maker that made two pancakes with each button press. Ten years ago I would have considered this breakfast really nice but it has become the norm at most competitive chains. There was definitely something for everyone (and probably most diets) and it was nice to not have to go out for breakfast. The swimming pool was outside and closed during our stay. Our room was on the back side of the hotel so we didn't experience the I-44 noise mentioned in other reviews I have seen. Sound insulation was pretty typical to us. We heard a few footsteps during our stay and some muffled conversation but nothing constant or bothersome. The loudest outside noise we experienced was an early morning trash truck backing up but it was over very quickly. All in all we were pleased with our stay. We waited until the last minute to book because we were watching the weather. I try to stay in the $80-110 range per night and this hotel was pretty typical with others in that range. I would probably stay here again in the same situation but if I didn't it would be to try to find a softer bed.

    Excellent stay

Stayed here for the 1st time in late June 2020. Tera was working at the Front Desk and is so nice and friendly. The hotel is spotless, as are the hotel rooms. Their location was convenient for everything that we needed to do while we were in town. Due to Covid, the grab and go breakfast was perfect for us. Highly recommend.

STAY AT THIS HOTEL YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!!

STAY AT THIS HOTEL YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!! While being a long time member of the IHG Rewards Club and actually avoiding IHG because of so many hateful personnel and management. I am simply trying to use up my points and was in Tulsa for pleasure and while I have stayed at the hotel in the past and had an excellent experience and thought I would try again to see if their outstanding service was still a "5." And I was not let down when I checked in Teresa greeted me, ask me how I was had my key ready and let me know she was there if I needed anything. I left for dinner and had a conversation with Lorri and again friendly, helpful and truly cared that my stay was a great one. The two women are truly an asset to this organization and should take the time to do a video for IHG to send to all their properties on how to treat and speak with guest and make them know they are appreciated. Thanks Teresa and Lorri for your truly caring and warming personalities.

    OK under the circumstances

. . . the circumstances skewed by the diminution of the travel experience that is, unfortunately, not unique to this hotel. Staying in a decent or better hotel used to be a treat, or at least a break from mundane life. Sometimes it even gave one a pleasant taste of pampering. At hotels with well-trained and genuinely friendly staffs, it is nice to be greeted like a friend. A brief overview before getting to my specific review of this property: COVID has not only cut bookings and revenues at most hotels, the ripple effects have also often left guests with no hot breakfasts (day after day of grab bags of a sausage biscuit, a muffin or oatmeal bar, and an apple get old fast), housekeeping service only on special request, the temporary elimination of exercise rooms and pools, and other expense-cutting reductions that make the visitor experience a hassle in which guests like kids off at summer camp must share in the work (e.g. collecting and disposing of trash). At some properties, management has used the pandemic as an excuse to eliminate small but appreciated services such as keeping maps of the city at the front desk, providing small items such as little shaving cream dispensers to those who forgot them, and offering free wine and beer with evening socials if the socials havent been cancelled entirely. This hotel (obviously on orders from higher management), even took away the little body lotion samplers that are almost universally provided along with shampoos and conditioners. In the rush to economize, many hotels have cut staffs to the bone and then slashed the pay or workdays for the staff that remains. Thats a morale buster for sure in an industry in which warm customer relations pay dividends, and sour employees kill any chance of getting repeat business. None of this lament is directed to this property in particular. Its fine overall, and with the exception of one crank, the staff is warm and helpful. The primary evening desk clerk, Lorrie, twice helped us plan several days worth of excursions with great photo ops. She is the epitome of what a prepared, helpful desk agent should be who really knows her city for a change (fewer and fewer do). This property is located a literal stones throw from I-44 and its access ramps, but thats a downside, too. We thought Texas was the state where everybody drives pickup trucks, but Oklahoma gives it a noisy run for the money. I would not be shocked to learn that its illegal for Oklahoma vehicle owners to replace defective mufflers, and off-limits for state troopers to pull over lane-cutting speeders the better to let them roar past the citizenry and guests who are trying to sleep. If you stay here, request a room on the front side, as far from the drivers who are auditioning for the Smokey and the Bandit sequel as possible. The hotel could use a tighter grip on maintenance: We found a bathroom sink that would hardly drain, a heat/cooling register that leaks**, a torn window shade, and peoples trash and linens stacked in the halls (some of which we put there), attended to only when the housekeepers make their mid-morning rounds. **"Oh, yeah, we know about that," a clerk told us. "We've been having that problem with a lot of units in the building." (And apparently done nothing about it. I should have invited her to slip off her shoes and walk around behind near the desk/table beside the register. Wonder what all lurks in the wet carpet she'd be stepping on?) All of this, which is little fault of the mostly outstanding everyday staff staff, keeps this property a peg below VERY GOOD. (And things could be worse. I'm writing this during our NEXT stay down the road, where the hotel of supposedly equal or better rating has just about completely ignored coronavirus considerations: Unlike previous Hilton and IHG properties (this in the latter chain) in which we have stayed, its rooms are not sealed, and it has no hand sanitizer stations. More on that in my next review!)
