Great Stay with some Pros and Cons

Overall my fiancé and I had a very enjoyable stay, but there are a few things we thought needed improvement. PROS: Excellent food! We stayed 4 night with full board which started from dinner the first night and ended with breakfast the last day. Every meal was excellent and there were loads of choices! Our final night they had steaks on the menu! And there was always complimentary wine available (white, rose, and red) with meals which really kept our bar tab low. The most comfortable bed Ive ever experienced in a hotel. We slept well every night and looked forward to having a lie down. Loads of storage space. Although the room itself was small, we were able to unpack our entire suitcase and store everything in the closet and cabinet. The spa area was lovely! We took advantage of the hot tub and sauna on day 2 and it was the perfect way to wind down after a long day on the slopes. The 3-Day Ski Equipment Hire and Lift Pass we had were great and we had access to countless slopes for all levels! My fiancé was able to learn how to ski and I was able to enjoy more advanced slopes without needing to venture too far. CONS: Check-in after 18:00 and Check-out before 09:00?! Never in my life have I encountered such a late check-in and early check-out! We honestly found this to be ridiculous as standard hotels have 14:00 check-in and 11:00 check-out. The walk to the ski lifts was rough. Although realistically it wasnt a far walk at all... when you are wearing ski boots and slinging skis and poles over your shoulder, it is really painful and exhausting. We found that bringing our snow boots with us and changing into our ski gear at the lift was much more comfortable, and we just threw our shoes into a backpack. The rooms are on the smaller side and can feel pretty cramped when youre trying to get ready for the day. The bath is more suitable for children than grown adults. The shower itself has great pressure and hot water, but due to the small shower door, the bathroom floor would be absolutely soaking wet after use. Although there was a large social area, we never found it to be occupied and we think this is because of the expensive drinks and games. To play one round of snooker it cost 2 and for one gin & tonic is was 6.50! For the price, we would stay here again but do think its important for future visitors to be aware of the positives and negatives.

Good hotel, let down by room size

We stayed here for our annual ski trip with friends. The location was good, a couple of minute walk to the slopes. It was handy to have a ski shop in the hotel too. The rooms themselves were very small and had no tea making facilities which was missed. Comfortable beds, warm and plenty of hot water. Food was very good and had plenty of choice. The animations team were also very good they put alot of effort in. Staff were all very friendly and done what they could for you. The bar was well stocked and reasonably priced Spa and pool etc was clean and tidy and a welcome retreat after a day on the slopes. All in all this could be a very good hotel it just let down by the smaller than average rooms. We had a good time.

    Hotel Altitude disappointing

Hotel Altitude First up, not a 3 star hotel, more like 2 star. I have stayed in better Travelodges. Reception - poor from check in (long queues, cant go into room until 5-6pm so dont get an early flight basically) and poor when you check out, only 1 person to take payments, and they dont print off a statement of what youve spent either.. Rooms. Concrete. Awful. Small and basic. Shower over bath sprays everywhere due to pathetic shower screen. Separate toilet is so small, you could not swing a mouse. The Bath tub is again, pathetic, small and you cant lie in it, at all. Good for bathing young kids and dogs, nothing else. Window is very small and disappointing given we looked over Mont Blanc. The beds were rock hard, and the pillows DREADFUL. We did not have one good nights sleep here, at all and woke up every day with cricks in our necks. Bedding wasnt changed during the week and our sheets etc had marks on it, which were awful. Towels were replaced twice, but these are basic. Food and Drink. Bar was ok, drinks a little on the expensive side with limited offering but ok. Bar area full of noisy kids everywhere. Be nice to have an adults only area. It is geared up for french market so no joy for British kids. Restaurant was a nightmare. Kids running everywhere. Again, adults only area or kids only area would be great. Why dont kids have a high tea at 5/6pm away from adults? It was utter chaos every night. Screaming and running everywhere. Food offering was poor and sorry but i didnt rate it at all. Some nights we had ok food but this was the worst ski hotel food ive had in my 20+ years of skiing. Desserts were rubbish, doughnuts cut in half, muffins, that kind of thing. Location If you dont mind walking 10 mins from the coach transfer drop off point (your bags are taken there for you) then fine, but this isnt overly communicated in the brochure. Its a steep 10 mins to the nearest ski lift, and this is a drag lift. Again, not a great location. I wouldnt choose this hotel again and it is not worthy of three stars or whatever people rate it. Half of the rating you see in the brochure! Crystal staff did communicate via text and present in the lounge every night. Only one night of entertainment, which was the quiz. No staff on transfer coaches. Based on previous years, service has declined. On the plus side, we had a great time skiing and great weather. just let down by poor accommodation, the dreadful Chambery airport and flights.

    Disorganised

Arrived after 12 hrs travel to find we cd not get in our room for nearly 3 hrs! So tired - huge queue at reception & few staff. No instructions re ski storage etc. Not even a few cups of tea on arrival. No vegan option. Rabbit hutch rooms. Never again!!! Looks great on the photo. Dont be deceived

Worst hotel Ive ever stayed in!

Wow where do I start? Chaotic check in queued for half an hour then was told that we couldnt get into our room until 6pm, we then had to queue again to get the keys! Tiny room, no storage space or ventilation in toilet / bathroom causing the inevitable massive mould issue. Rooms are so badly designed you can hear everything in the next room in using people using the toilet, its disgusting. Also lots of badly behaved screaming toddlers, which you can obviously hear all the time due to the poor construction of the hotel. I would say avoid this one at all costs and spend your hard earned money elsewhere
