  Great time in a beautiful setting and hotel

  This is a wonderful hotel, up to date, beautiful rooms, exceptional food and a friendly caring staff. This family run hotel exceeded our expectaion in every way. We did half board and breakfast was very good with the dinners exceptional. The chef is spectacular in presentation, flavor and variety. We will definately return to this hotel.

  Would be five stars with better bar service

  A wonderful hotel just meters from the Panoramabahn gondola. We had a beautiful room, which was serviced twice a day, a great experience dining in their restaurant (Theresa was a fabulous waitress to us), the food was also outstanding every time. A very good choice of wines. Main criticism would be around the bar area, where the welcome bubbly was flat (and served with a long delay), and then the attitude overall was too pushy, there has to be some respect if guests do not want another alcoholic drink. Also a very unpleasant and unfortunate situation around the charge for some cake from the afternoon buffet on the last day, completely out of proportion with the standard of the house and the nightly rates here.

  Magical mountain retreat

  We highly recommend this hotel. It made for an amazing three day getaway - top notch service and amenities, great food and located across the street from the gondola. Our suite (nr. 401) was simply amazing (the suite would also be good for families with older kids). The hotel is very well maintained and has an upscale cozy mountain lodge feel. We had the half board option, so breakfast and dinner was included, which was the perfect option for tired skiers. We also loved our après ski massages at the SPA and a dip in the small outdoor pool. The Großarl valley is beautiful and the skiing is great for intermediate and advance skiers beginners seem to have more limited options but we did notice a lot of ski schools. Lots of lunch options on the mountain. I image that summers are very nice here too. Equipment can be rented across the street next to the ticket booth. When we were here in January, there were no lines on the weekend. Prices are very reasonable as well. To access the hotel, we took a 120 EUR taxi from Salzburg airport about an hour drive. As we were here just to ski and relax, we found no need to have a car. The town is small and sleepy and everything is within walking distance from the hotel.

  Wonderful stay

  Have just completed a 3 day stay at the Grossarlerhof. I chose the village because of the hiking opportunities. The number of trails was fantastic, all well marked, and providing amazing views across the whole region. Getting around by local bus to the starts of trails proved pretty easy, so a car was not required. The valley is beautiful, and has not been spoilt by crass development. I was very happy with the hotel. It has a wonderful cosy atmosphere, nicely built in traditional style. Suite 402 was beautifully furnished and comfortable. Food was very good, with good variety, local ingredients, and friendly service. The spa area was large, and spotlessly clean. This is a very well run property. Clearly long-standing staff, and many repeat visitors. Strongly recommended!

  This is not Good - Its very Good

  Was to meet my son and wife for Easter and was told to locate same and travel from Dublin -well its not an easy trip -flights ,trains and a bus but what a place -run by a family who take care of every detail -and I mean everything -the food is gourmet,the drinks endless and the sun shone every day ,the cable car will take y to the mountain top and y can enjoy a beer in the snow -my only regret was it was only for two nights
