Very good location and serviceWe liked the villa a lot; it looks great, the staff is very friendly and the pool was the best we had during our trip through Italy. Most of the times, pools are smaller than they appear - in this case, the hotel offers a spacious pool, in a nice garden and for a change no issues with towels or unavailable beach chairs. The reason for not giving it a 5 star rating is that the rooms are small, especially bathroom (and particularly the shower in which I could hardly move) which I think is difficult to accept at this price point.

Lovely placeBy chance we discovered this little gem in Ronchi. I cant think of anything we didnt like. Everything was just perfect ( house, garden, pool, room with nice beds, curtains, bed covers and cupboards, bathroom, balcony, food, beach in a few minutes walking distance,....). If I had to say something less positive I would mention the missing lift. Not for me but because of all the people who need one and would miss this place because of that. The interior decoration is simply beautiful, with lots of flowers, nice pictures(some of them painted by the owner herself!), period furniture, romantic ivy in front of the windows, etc But the most beautiful aspect is the soul of this place: the people! Starting with a very friendly and helpful staff at the reception, trying to help in each and every aspect, over an excellent service in the restaurant/pool (thank you Bernardo for organizing the cake and your recommandations as well, thank you to the ladies who prepared us a nice breakfast on the day we were too late for the buffet) , via sweet room maids and a very gentle porter, to the owners: mother and daughter. Both of them very present (which I think is nice), gentle, classy and elegant, kind-hearted and welcoming. They really did and still do a great job. The history of the house is very interesting as well and to think they bought it in a very bad state to create such a wonderful place is just heartwarming. Thank you for these lovely days! We will come back (inspite of the fact that the Morandi Bridge in Genua collapsed just a few minutes before we were going to cross it on our way back).

Pleasant one night stayWe chose Villa Maremonti as our overnight stay after visiting one of our Carrara suppliers in the area. The location is excellent - close to the beach, and we were given a free upgrade - room with seaview. The villa is in good state, the rooms are quite small, though. With the extra babycot there (at 40 EUR surcharge) there was hardly any space left to move around - but it was only for one night anyway. The room was clean, so was the bathroom (sink, toilet, bidet, shower). The room also offered a small terrace looking out to the sea - very pleasant. The garden is beautiful, and features a nice, pretty large (for the place) pool in the centre, with good recreational value. We had a quick lunch there, too - tasty Italian cuisine and local white wine - nothing bad to say here, and prices were as expected. Breakfast on offer was good, too - pretty much everything available at good quality. For a quick stay without being confined to the room, this was a pleasant stay - too short to call it outstanding. The only downside was the rather hefty pricing given the size of the rooms, and especially for the babycot.

Perfect get away from it all hotelMy friend and I stayed for a week at the beginning of June this year, in what was for us perfect weather - warm, dry, sunny and around 24C every day. This hotel is a real gem, it has many excellent features including a beautiful, large and immaculately clean pool; pretty gardens have several "rooms" with plenty of seating where you can just sit and read, listen to the birds, put your feet up or snooze; the sea is only yards away. The staff will happily bring hot or cold drinks out to you. There is a lovely gazebo where we took breakfast outside every morning, and we chose to upgrade to a sea view and balcony. The maids kept our rooms pristine. The most important thing about the hotel, however, is the staff. From the moment of my first enquiry, I felt there was a real interest and enthusiasm in providing what I wanted. The welcome was palpable and indeed when we arrived, we were made to feel like family coming home and that is just the best feeling. The owner, Francesca, was always to be seen in and around the hotel. I would like especially to praise and thank Agnese, on reception, who went to endless trouble for us, sorting out taxis, day trips, excursions and planning with us so that we could see all the things we really wanted to. She stayed on at the hotel beyond her regular departure time to greet us, which was so much appreciated. Lucia and Antonio, also on reception, could not have been more helpful. Bernardo was in charge of the food and drink, and was a very amusing addition to the team. All the waitresses smiled, greeted us, and looked after us very well. The taxi service Agnese arranged was reliable and fairly priced. Because of its location by the sea, the hotel is a little distance from the town and we used taxis to take us to the railway station at Massa Centro from where we were able to get everywhere we wanted - including Portofino, Lucca, Pisa, Pietrasanta - on clean, inexpensive and reliable trains. It was well worth it to have the wonderfully peaceful and welcoming hotel to return to after our days out. The beach is easily accessible. We were just ahead of the school holidays, and I imagine the hotel and the area will become much busier once they begin. There is much to see locally, we loved our tour to the white marble mountains of the Apuan Alps which Agnese arranged for us, and our trip to Portofino which is so pretty. Pietrasanta is charming and full of fascinating little art galleries, and Lucca is a historic gem. You could get to Florence at a pinch, but with so much in the vicinity, we were happy to save that for another visit. Just behind the hotel there are a few little local shops, just enough for our needs - a baker, a deli and grocer, a gelato bar, a newsagent.. We had the most wonderful holiday, can't praise the staff enough, and will for sure return. Thanks to you all at the Hotel Villa Maremonti for a perfect holiday.

Hidden GemJust got back from Hotel Villa Maremonti, a beautiful grand house with very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our trip to Ronchi very much. Not a lot to do at night, but the company in the hotel was so brilliant you really only needed to sit and chat with a lovely glass of vino and relax. Bernardo was the hotels hidden Gem. A holiday to remember, thank you Maremonti.
