  Good Food, Nice Staff, Long Walk

  The Hotel was a substitution after our original property booking became unavailable, so we had no idea what to expect. The room was large, and had an awesome view. The Onsen was great, but sometimes busy. The dinner was great and we often had a private room - one one night, we had nigiri sushi freshly made for us in the room. Breakfast was a buffet, and certainly adequate. The staff were keen to look after us and helpful. The biggest issue is the distance from the snow for us - if would have made life much simpler to be a little closer.

  Great Place to Stay

  Good size room with Japanese style sleeping, excellent bar and You was the best cook and bar staff we could want. Great value for money and easy to get to the ski field, beautiful Onsen with awesome views and fantastic massage chairs

  Great Hotel in Myoko Kogen

  Just wrapped up a wonderful 5-night stay at Hotel Taiko. Pros: oLocation short ride from Myoko station. Easy walk to restaurants, bars, and multiple lifts in the town. oFree pick-up from station. We were able to arrange this the morning of our arrival via email. oSpacious, comfortable rooms. Stayed in a Japanese-style room with tatami mats and slept great! Lovely sitting area with gorgeous view in the room. oEnsuite bathroom & showerfairly uncommon for Japanese-style rooms in other Myoko hotels to have a private shower. oOnsen this was great! Inside bathing/shower area with hot pool and an outdoor hot spring. Separated by gender. Very clean. Wonderful after a day of skiing! Cons: oSki rental I paid to rent ski equipment as part of our room rate. In hindsight, wish I hadnt. When we went to the rental shop onsite, we found the equipment to be old. Ended up renting from another shop down the street. oThough clean, beautiful, and very comfortable, the hotel feels a bit dated (carpet looks old, rotary phone in the room). Overall, really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Taiko. Would absolutely stay here again!

  Good service and wonderful traditional Japanese room

  The hotel is 10 minutes drive from Myokokogen station, it is best to ring them when your train is arriving and their shuttle will pick you up, don't bother to email, you won't get any response. What are the best things about this hotel: 1. Wonderful traditional Japanese rooms, spacious, comfy, beautiful view, and good heating which you can control. 2. Wonderful staff, some speak English. 3. Onsen looks great, an indoor and outdoor 4. Free shuttle 5. Near a ski piste 6. Near restaurants, bars, cafe, groceries, snow gear rentals and Japanese dessert store 7. Quiet rooms 8. Good buffet (Japanese and western) Cons: 1. Too many young people hanging around the lobby 2. Very busy onsen 3. Hallways looks dated 4. Wifi was either slow or not working

  In two minds!

  This place is in a great location. The staff are friendly and the breakfasts are great! The outdoor onsen is just wonderful! However it is overpriced for what it is! Tax and an onsen price are not included in the booking price.
