First time in (semi) Japanese Style Hotel

Hotel is locate quite far from the iizaka onsen station but on the return journey, there is free shuttle bus from hotel to station. The hotel price is quite expensive if compare to modern hotel in major cities. The front of hotel building and the lobby looked elegant but when I walked inside inside the hotel and the corridor it look so old about 20+ years old. The room size is average, not too small or big. The room is separate into many parts. There is no non-smoking room so there is smell of smoke in the toilet. The flush toilet is separate from the shower and bed is also in a small enclosed part so when the light is turned off, and the skide door is close, it is very dark. Around the hotel is nothing special. The onsen is okay but my mum said the there is lots of dust/dirtiness on the floor of onsen. The room is not so secure unlike modern hotel, any people who have the room key can enter the room and if you didn't lock the room, any one can open it. The only outstanding thing in this hotel is the food (which is include in the package). It was very delicious buffet, there is plenty of food types to select on (but it is also quite expensive, if buy sperately cost 4200+jpy per person for dinner and for breakfast 1300+ jpy per person.

    Fine food and terrific spa

We spend one night in a 3rd floor (out of 8) room on the river side of the hotel. The hotel is very easy to reach by car and not too far from the train station, although the walk may be a bit difficult with luggage as there is no sidewalk. Our room had a smoky smell (the hotel is rather old) and the beds were extremely soft - we should have requested Japanese beds instead. It was clean. The toilet room was very cramped. The sink area is fine and the room comes with the usual amenities. Dinner was buffet style and it was a mad rush to get in line, with long lines for the tempura and sushi for the first 45 minutes. The secret may be to wait that long before dining, as you are permitted 90 minutes to eat. The food itself was perfectly fine and there was a great variety to choose from. Breakfast is also buffet style and quite good, as well as considerably less busy. The spas (and there are several) are all very nice, with indoor and outdoor pools of varying temperatures and sizes. There are many competing hotels in Iizaka and if we return we may try another location, or perhaps one of the spas up in the hills above Fukushima. Just around the corner from the hotel is a reconstructed/restored home with a foot spa that is well worth a short visit. Also nearby is an owl museum/shop and another museum we did not get a chance to visit.

    Nice friendly hotel

I stayed one night here after staying at another hotel in town for two nights. It was like day and night difference. Being an American, I was happy with little things like coffee with meals. The cafeteria style meals were perfect. You could get just what you wanted and the food quality was excellent. The rooms and beds were not fancy, but more than adequate. Loved having a shower in the room (our other hotel did not!) and the hot spring baths were attractive, clean and inviting. Had wireless in the lobby and they take credit cards. Should have stayed here the three nights we were in Iizaka.

    Nice hotel and buffet

Our friends to this hotel and we really enjoyed our stay there. The entrance is really beautiful like the other public areas, the rooms have little signs of wear but they are clean and comfortable. In the room you can sleep in the western bed or you can ask the staff to make your bed on the tatami mat. The western style bedroom is small, but we slept well, especially after the hot bath. The onsen is big and there is several pools. I selected to stay in the big pool inside as there was nobody else most of the time. It was not too hot, so I just relaxed there for some time. We had the buffet dinner and breakfast and both were very good. There was big selection and we tried different things. I must say that I did not know all the things I ate, but it is nice to try out. Staff was polite and quite friendly.

    great newly-renovated "premium" Sora rooms

We got a last-minute deal on one of their premium Sora triple rooms, which are in their own section of the hotel and were renovated this year. The room reminded me of a nice new Japanese apartment room complete with modern bathrooms. The beds are Simmons and I slept very well. Dinner and breakfast buffet was large and varied and good, and they were very careful about cleanliness in this age of Covid, everybody including guests wearing masks and gloves except while eating at the partitioned tables. Onsen is large with numerous baths.
