An expensive mistakeI changed my booking when I found this place as the booking site seemed to indicate that the room was going to be bigger than average. The photos also made it look nice. However the reality was very different. My room was the average size for Hong Kong. The positives of the place is that it is centrally located and close to transport links. Free WiFi in the main part of the guest house is very good. The bed is comfortable and the sleep quality is good. However the negatives outnumber the positives. When you arrive at reception the flickering light suggests that the place is not maintained properly. When I saw my room this was confirmed. Half the lights do not work and for some reason there is a flannel wrapped around the hot pipe of the shower. The decor is shabby and dirty. Some of wall paper is loose and held in place by brown gaffer tape. You can only get 1 channel on the TV as the others don't work (at least I have one. Downstairs in the new extension it is swapped for cockroaches). There is no storage space for anything - not even a hanger. The shower is of the monsoon type typical of Hong Kong but is old and suplies water that is at best warm. Add any cold water and you loose what little warmth there was. Room servicing is a bit erratic and you have to request it. Even then there is no guarantee that it will be done. Even having spending 9 nights here the bin has never been emptied and is full. Have paid a lot of money for service that is well below average. Paying by card is another issue. There is no card reader as the owner depends on on line prepayment for this. You have to write the card number to pay the bill or keep drawing cash. The state of this place has been a big disappointment and I wished that I had stayed with my original booking as as would have paid far less. Not a place for a repeat visit.

A Good Place To StayIt is a decent enough place to stay. If you are a Filipino or love being with the like you'll love this place! The caretaker is very caring, kind and humble - she's the asset of this place. She knows where to go and where are the cheapest ones! Note: If you are on a budget bring some noodles, bread or food that not easily to get spoil because HK is a little-tiny pricy for an Asian country. A normal meal is HK$50.

Terrible experienceTHE WORST place Ive ever stayed in my life (and I stayed in hundreds places in more than 50 countries in almost all prices range from 10 to 1000usd a night). Lets start from beginning - no guest house sign on ground floor. There are ten guest houses in this building but you wont find JAS among them. Ask a guard where it is - nobody on reception, after waiting 20min in front of some door with JAS letters on it, a lady appeared and barely speaking English told me no room. I explained I had booked, explained 10mins and finally got a key - no WiFi (broken), - no towels, - no toilet paper!!!, - no additional blankets (my wife got sick, but they told me they dont have ANY spare blanket). Its really hard to sleep under one small quilt with somebody who needs to recover (they seem not to understand it) - one electric plug - no hot water - if you are taller than 1,75 be aware the beds are seriously short! - thin walls (youll hear everything and people drill holes at 7am on Sunday) - rude and unpleasant female host (receptionist) I decided to take a risk and book first time a place with low average scoring but cheap and in great location (and it was as a matter of fact). It wasnt good shot definitely, its better to pay more with better scoring.

"Small, pleasant and convenient gusethouse."This guesthouse is located on the 13th floor of an apartment block, which rises out of a shopping centre. Actually, it is an apartment, as are many other guesthouses in this block. It's a little tricky to find, but local people are very helpful. Don't be put off by the exterior, as it's a nice little guesthouse. The owner is helpful. We stayed in room 6, which is easily the smallest room we've ever stayed in. It's nice, though, with a window and a comfortable bed. The shower needs a bit of attention, as neither the shower, nor the sink worked very well. There is a kettle and a microwave in the reception, which were helpful. The location is excellent: the MTR, a supermarket, shops, restaurants, the ferry terminal, the bus station and the airport bus are all within a couple of streets. It's very basic and clean, but if your standards aren't too high, and you want somewhere convenient for pretty much everything, then I would recommend it. I would be happy to stay here again.
