  Anniversary Trip

  It was our 5th anniversary and was in Eger to celebrate.. spent 3 nights at the Korona.. very well maintained hotel with beautiful decor and very warm and friendly staff although few of them didnt understand much of English.. Id requested the hotel staff to arrange for a strawberry cake and a bottle of bubbly which was duly done on our arrival.. the cake was too good, especially the cream that was used was so fresh; havent had this kind of cream before.. coming to the restaurant, quite a long menu and every dish presented very well and tasty.. breakfast was very good with variety every morning.. had French toast for breakfast after a long long time.. now this hotel is a wellness and spa centre as very well equipped at that.. different types of messages were available and the masseurs very good at their job.. multiple sauna options available along with steam room, jacuzzi and a small swimming pool.. we spent good amount of time daily at the spa.. there was a games room as well.. we played pool and table tennis.. The hotel also hosts the Istvan Cellar, centuries old cellar which currently hosts a museum, wine cellar and an area for wine tasting and dining.. dining is only available during summer time.. the tour is free for hotel residents but you have to pay for wine tasting which we did.. not many are aware that Hungary is quite famous for its wine regions and Eger is one of them.. mostly famous for red wine, the bulls blood, Egri Bikaver.. we tasted the muscotaly as well, very good semisweet white wine.. pity that Hungarian wine is not sourced here in UK.. Also the entrance to The Beatles Museum is via this hotel.. they dont own the museum though.. the museum is closed during winter time.. Finally location.. just perched outside the town centre.. so you can enjoy the quietness although the town centre including Dobo Istvan Square is 5 mins walk away.. all attractions are in walking distance.. Parking is free at the hotel.. Highly recommended

  Spacious rooms, staff spoke decent English.

  Nothing hugely exciting, but clean and comfortable. Laundry service was fast. In-hotel restaurant was pretty good and well priced. A decent number of vineyards nearby if that is your thing. Staff was very friendly. Price/quality was okay, considering the location.

  Charming Accommodations in Almost Rural hundary

  We stayed at this hotel while attending a Hungarian Chemical Society meeting at a local university. Our room was comfortable, but not air conditioned. Luckily temperatures cooled nightly so that lack of air conditioning did not make us feel uncomfortable. Our large bed was comfortable, but an absence of fitted sheets led repeatedly to a messy bed. Our room had a strange wooden paneling decor that was unusual for a hotel in my experience. The breakfast room and patio were very comfortable, and the food was ample and high quality.

  Worst hotel ever, poor wellness

  There was a wedding and they didn't mention it. We couldn't sleep all night. Hotel looks like a 2-3 star hotel. Wellness doesn't look like on the pictures, not clean, small, poor shower facility. Breakfast isn't tasty and not much to choose from.

  Conviently located, quiet but small rooms

  Clean and comfortable, despite being slightly cramped. Even has extra bathrooms in the hallways. Had a very nice balcony off our room. Excellent breakfast as part of package. A bit of a maze figuring out where everything is located.
