  Shocking BEST HOTEL

  We checked into the hotel for one night in Suwon. The lobby looked good and checking in was fast. The room looked posh with a big living hall, bedroom with king and single beds. The worst was yet to be discovered till I prepared myself for my bath! The water was brownish black like coffee and it lightened only after 10-15 minutes, only to reappear after another 5 minutes. Besides, the bathroom came with a stinking sewage smell. The branded perfume I had was also not able to cover their unique scent. After a night of discomfort, we had buffet breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. The spread was simple and looked good, but nothing could us stop us pondering about the water the restaurant used to prepare the spread. We left the hotel punctually, never to look back. Ironically, there was a sign on the hotel wall outside that said, " BEST HOTEL".

  A little lacking...

  We stayed 9 nights in this hotel. At first when you walk in it looks great. The lobby is big and well appointed. Checkin was smooth and quick. The room is big and has all the amenities one would expect, including a kitchenette and dishes. Our room also had a spacious balcony that overlooked the golf course. However, that's where the good stuff stops. The hotel does not offer free wifi, or any wifi at all. There is no continental breakfast, only a restaurant downstairs that is tremendously overpriced and the food not the greatest. And beware of the elevator doors, if you don't hurry into the elevator the doors will slam on you...it happened to me a couple of times, and it hurts! Upon checking in there were only enough towels for one person, which is a problem of you're sharing the room. The AC unit is complicated to figure out, especially since all the directions were in Korean. One day the housekeepers didn't even come, so our towels were not replaced, our room not cleaned, and our bed not made. The mattress is extremely hard, so if you are used to a soft, comfortable bed, you will be let down when you lay down expecting to get a comfortable night of sleep. The location of the hotel is also not very convenient. It is about 20-25 minutes outside of town and if you do not have any means of transportation it does take some time for a taxi to arrive. I realize that hotel standards outside of the US are different, but when a place is advertised as a resort, there is a certain level of expectation that comes with it. Unfortunately, this establishment did not meet those expectations.
