With some more work, it could be great

We were slightly apprehensive concerning the hotel, given the reviews we had read online. Overall, however, I can say that the hotel is not run-down or deserted. It is actually is a good choice for those who prefer individual (recently renovated) bungalows in a tranquil hotel setting, across a peaceful, beautiful beach. However, it is true that for the same money you can get a better room and better breakfast at a newer, larger hotel located just a bit further away, also at a beach. Check-in (even though it was late) and check-out easy. Restaurant stayed open till late the first night so we could eat there. Staff at reception: extremely sweet and eager to help. Wi-fi worked well. What was annoying, however, was that in the room, log in was required whenever you left the room. Hotel grounds: overall well-tended. Bungalows are spread out in two rows across the grounds; 3-4 bungalows (I think the larger ones) have unlimited seaview, the rest are behind them and some have therefore a somewhat restricted view. Nonetheless, it was lovely to sit on the balcony and relax (we asked for a table for the balcony and the solution was to bring out the table used to place your suitcase inside the room (and place the suitcase on the floor) one should expect hotel to have small balcony tables! Room itself: large, spacious, with large TV, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, fridge. Rooms have been renovated recently and are clean (but no one seems to have swept below bed). Minus of room was that it was entered by all sorts of creatures (frogs, lizards, squirrels, cockroaches) because cracks under the doors were huge. Cockroaches (found them on 3 nights) disappeared only after I sprayed the room (not sure why this was not done by housekeeping). Close the cracks, it's simple as that! Bathroom: open-air. Additional toilet paper roll brought only upon request. Towels and bed sheets changed irregularly. Breakfast: meager for the price (choice of American or Indonesian breakfast, no cornflakes, no butter, no juice, only one cup coffee/tea), given that other hotels close by offer buffet, at only slightly higher room rate. Breakfast staff speaks little English and cannot always understand and is very slow in serving. Dinner adequate, over-priced. Only 1-2 vegetarian options. No warning of and no specific repellent against sandflies provided. Beach (not private) is beautiful and tranquil (not much sea life). Staff was trying to keep beach clean by collecting bottles and other plastic dumped there by locals every day (though clean up only happened close to the street). Hotel can arrange island hopping tour and diving (though diving was expensive). Some eateries close by, an excellent one can be reached on foot (as you exit hotel, to your left)..

Could be better with maintenance and some fans.

We stayed with friends for 5 nights. Good spot opposite lovely beach ( apart from some rubbish ). Apparently the owner has an interest in the golf course which has obviously had a large amount of money injected into it and is behind the hotel. There are many inconsistencies between rooms as we checked out a few One had no safe. All locks on doors seem corroded so hard to lock. One bathroom key had fused to the lock. Bathroom Outdoor bathroom was nice enough. Those who complain about bugs etc. This is no major drama and we didn't encounter any problems. However we are Australian and are not precious about living with nature. We need bugs for survival of the ecosystem. One problem is that you can't use a credit card . This was a bit inconvenient as it is alot of cash to carry around physically and we could only get out small amounts from tellers. Breakfast Whatever we ordered we still received the same thing. We didn't want beef but sausages turned up on the plate every morning. Don't order breakfast in your room as you get less and it's wrapped in glad wrap. Nice view from the breakfast area but very cloying. Suggestion...get some fans mounted on the posts. There are lots of flies , again we are Aussies and used to flies but these were something else. The fans would at least help get rid of the flies. There are yard men working who seem to spend all of their time picking up leaves with a nail on a stick. They then put them in a wheelie bin and take them over to the beach where they burn the leaves. Besides being a mindless activity , it absolutely stinks while you are eating breakfast. Suggestion : leave the leaves as they make good mulch or take them over to the rubbish pile that we could see from room 119. Instead pick up the rubbish on the edge of the beach and keep the beach free of rubbish. We picked up lots of plastic and rubbish while we were staying at the Lorin. It seems to be the locals who leave their rubbish on the beach which is sad as if this keeps happening , tourists will not want to come to this lovely beach. Over all we enjoyed our stay and the 2 girls on the desk Wulan and Sri wi were lovely and very helpful. All the male assistants seemed dozy and one was even sleeping on an occasion we went to the desk. He was most drowsy after we had woken him up. Please consider doing some maintenance on the locks and get some fans to bring the Lorin up to the standard of the golf course.

    Disaster on our last day

Hi! We spent three days 2 nights in Lorin from 15th-18th of November. It was a very spontaneous trip and unplanned as well. We tried to look up for few other hotels in Belitung but most of them (Santika and Swiss bel) are busy. So we decided to book Lorin as one of our friend also recommend it. We didnt know that our room has open bathroom. I mean we dont mind but considering the surrounding is jungle and looks wild, we just felt bit unsafe. We admitted that Lorin has quite beautiful beach out front. But its really close with the main road. (Dont be surprise when people are watching you while you are swimming on the beach). We enjoyed our time in Belitung so do our stay in Lorin. Though we were still worried about our outdoor bathroom. It has so many holes from outside, anything can go inside easily. (We found centipede btw). On our last day, Sunday to be exact, we woke up from our nap and my partner about to go to the dunny. He saw a SNAKE under the toilet seat and it we hide under trash bin. We were panicked and had to change room. Luckily we didnt bring kids here. I think the management should really pay attention to this. I saw many people came with their children. Thanks!!
