  Afternoon tea

  My wife and I went along yesterday for afternoon tea,having driven from just outside glasgow in horrendous rain. I said to my partner" hope the drive is worth it" On arrival we were greeted by Lindsey,,warm attentive helpfull mature beyond her young age,,We was shown to our table in a slightly dingy dull room that,s more rendisent of the time of Dick Turpin.I asked Lindsey would it be poss we can move to the front of the house more familiar and welcoming part of the hotel,,Without a second breath Lindsey was more than accomodating,,nothing is too much for this Gal.....I must also add the ACTUAL afternoon tea was quite simply "SUPERB"...freshly made sannys and 10 out of 10 for the home baked cakes and scones,,gold star to the junior sous chef!!!,,,Lindsey did promise us the big lovely front view table in the lounge when we return,,in the words of Mr,Schwarchaneegar,,,"I,L BE BAACK"

  October break

  Took a break here for 3 nights in the October Holidays with my 2 children. Staff here were so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and it was brilliant to be able to get in the pool at the hotel. Top hotel all around, the staff are excellent. Thank you.

  Afternoon Tea

  Afternoon tea itself was lovely but honestly dont waste your money considering so many business are struggling and would welcome your custom. No one at reception so we made our way upstairs. The restaurant was soulless and dingy with no hint of Christmas. Had to ask for a tea refill, then again for the associated milk. Chairs had stains and the whole experience was lack lustre. Pity as wanted to support local hotels.

  My birthday get away!

  Stayed for two nights and linzi in reception was brilliant.she was polite,friendly and got our dinner and breakfast times all sorted for us.She helped me with my luggage and was patient with my 4yr old!!!she even had a beautiful fruit and chocolate platter saying happy birthday in my room. Nicola in the dining room was also excellent......she was soo chatty and friendly and made us feel very welcome.she also makes great cocktails which she brought to my room.on my birthday night Nicola brought me another choco platter saying happy birthday on it which was a great touch. Only thing is the bedrooms are alittle old,they need a new lick of paint and there was dampness.however that didnt stop us having a great time. Also I got a massage and it was excellent. The food was exceptional and perfect.

  Lovely Two Night Stay

  We have just got back from an excellent stay at MacDonald Houston House. The accommodation and food were first class, all of the staff, went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. We were celebrating two birthdays while we were there, my Daughter's and my Wife's. Ou Dining Room was decorated with Balloons and we received a Slate with sweets and fruit with Happy Birthday piped on it. We were accompanied by our Granddaughter aged 2 and the staff catered to every need we had with a smile. In addition to our two-night Bed & Breakfast Deal, we booked a Lunch on the first day and arrived early. We were a party of 6 adults and the 2-year-old and enjoyed a private exclusive Dinning room. the second day we enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea. All of the food was of high quality and beautifully presented. We made use of the Swimming Pool both days and enjoyed strolling in the lovely gardens and surrounding. I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment and will certainly return again. a sincere thank you to Andrew, Linsey and the rest of the team for making our stay so enjoyable.
