    Just nice but NOT special

General description from other review mostly true with some details from my side. I visited the hotel with my friend during NY eve. We made only snorkeling. What is good/bad at this resort: 1) fringing reef is nice, just in the water but corals are starting to bleach, lots of dead corals, during low tide the upper side of corals are above the water. 2) fish very often scares of people, does not allow to come closely for photos. if You will feed them with sweet bread You will be not too frightened. 3) recommend to visit desert island - there are corals in better conditions but not so many fish there - the side with sun chairs is better for snorkeling. Recommend to be ready for boarding in hard conditions on the return way - we had a problem with it as the boat could not come closer to the beach and we needed to walk by dead sharp coral with strong current (a child of ten years old even could not stand without help) till the level of 1.5 meter - not for everybody challenge. 4) manta ray watching - the way of watching offered by the staff was unappropriated. they drop us behind the manta with recommendation not swim to them quickly because the faster You will come to manta the faster they will go away. but how to get the manta if they dropped us behind mantas - it was unsolved issue for all of the visitors. Only my friend was lucky to take a close look of manta as he rejected to jump in the water after permission and waited till the boat came to manta closer and just got in the water under the manta. All others were fully exhausted by continuously working by fins and watched only shadows of mantas. 5) bungalows - it's good that they are separated. they have special external facilities for washing and drying swimming gear - we appreciated it very much. But they need to reconstruct them - walls and floor have a lot of cracks, tiles are in bad condition, very old and cheap looking. It is the main reason why the shower is ugly looking. The dust and spots are on all surfaces - see my photos. There is no network connection for Internet in bungalows but we had a spider net on the lamp )))) The electronic equipment are obligatory for replacement. Our fridge was corroded but at least made cooling while air conditioner worked so badly that we couldn't breath normally (putting at the temperature at 17C did not solve the problem - even my chewing gum was melted). Other guests more luckier - their conditioners worked but their children coughed - it means the split systems probably were never cleaned. 6) sleeping condition - be ready to be awaken at 4 o'clock in the morning by birds screaming. They will be scream till 7 o'clock - the time when You will get up for the breakfast - closed windows, noise from the fan and air-conditioner will not dampen these lacerating sounds - as a result - I saw some of birds with broken legs - after 5th night I was ready to kill them all because even earplugs didn't help to sleep - You are just laying on the bed, sweating and listening to these awful sounds (it's louder and worse than peacock scream).

    great island, beach and diving

1st time in maldives, very beautiful small island, great beach all around, bungalows also all around the island, located almost at the beach, each bungalow has its own path to the beach, not crowded at all, you can find your own spot at the beach at any time, good home reef, food is very good, i recomend all inclusive package, drinks at the bar are quite expensive if you want peace, sun and warm water, then it is your place! Diving center is small and great, each day only 4-5 divers, they take you to non crowded places, Leader of the diving center (Axel) is very profesional and it was great to dive with him and with others from the center. We saw sharks, swim with mantas,...great, easy dives , just visibility wasnt so good beacuse of the plancton, but where the mantas are is also the plankton :) Domen, Slovenia Recomended! stay from 27.1. - 6.2.2014

    Madoogali Oooo!

We went here for our honeymoon, because we were looking for something mid-range. This one comes with quiet bungalows on the beach, none of the type that juts into the sea. It's a short flight away from Male airport via their plane taxis. The island is small enough to walk around in an hour, and the buffet is nice. The sand is great for sunbathing, and you get to feed small sharks at night. Food is great with local fare, and staff patient and friendly. We also took day trips to the neighbouring island to see native houses, and for fishing. The snorkelling was wonderful, with fishes even close to the beach. We had a great time, no regrets about choosing this island.

    Quite and reasonable

I was with my family in december during the xmas period. The rooms were clean but a bit run down due to lack of proper maintenance. Was in room 22 and water leaked into the room during rains. Room boy service was excellent. Food was very basic with a small buffet, but the waiters and kitchen was good enough to provide the kids with finger foods and kids meals. All in all good

    Fantastic Island

We have stated at Madoogali no less than four times. It is a wonderful island if you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all. It is not fancy but there are around 56 stand-alone bungalows, No over the water bungalows so the beautiful reef is has not been ruined. Snorkelling is fantastic only a few meters from the beach. I think you will find this is one of the most natural Islands in the Maldives. There are no vehicles on the island so it is perfect for young children. Our children were there as babies and the last time we were there our son 9 years old. They have the usual, Spa for massages, a dive centre, fishing trips and water sports. There is one restaurant and bar. The staff are also wonderful and very friendly. I highly recommend Madoogali if you are looking a beautiful relaxing holiday but not if like a fancy upmarket hotel with all the bells and whistles.
