    Nice family hotel.Nice clean rooms and pool.Near the beautiful well known Kouvio beach.The breakfast is good but nothing special,almost every morning the same.The sun beds next to the pool are free but at the beach not

    Hello everybody, We have just arrived from Makednos and I want to share some information with you. Location of the hotel is phenomenal, beach Koviou is hundred meters far away from the hotel. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on Sithonia: clean beach, white sand, clear water... breathtaking. Both pools are excellent, the one for the grown-ups and the other for children. Rooms were fine, it was evident that the hotel is old because almost everything needed repairment: door knob, electric plug, terrace door and so on, and so on. The bathroom was special story because you had to flush toilet several times to make it clean even if you don't throw paper in it, disgusting. Food was fine, there were 3-4 dishes every meal and at least one or two were tasteful, maybe they could refill meals more often. Stuff at the restaurant were very kind and polite, always at your service. Internet was available in restaurant, around the pool and sometimes in the rooms, beach is too far. All in all, this is two star hotel and you get what you have paid for... but this isn't end. 10.07. big storm hit Sithonia and after that, we were out of electricity and water two days and without internet four days. Guess what management of the hotel did in the first 24 hours after the storm? ... nothing!!! Not one thing to help us to overcome tough time. Just after couple of us complained next evening about their inactivity, their provide us with a water from pool for toilet, nothing else. Complete disappointment with them. Conclusion: if you are sure that wheather will be on your side, you can think about this hotel, but if something happens... your on your own. Hope I helped.

    Continue from 2018: WiFi is better this year. This place is simply best value for the money for me and my family because of: - surroundings (looks very wild) - great pools and water massage in one of them - beautiful beach - breakfast is just fine for me and my family (did not had dinner at hotel) - accommodation is very good (rooms) and it is very clean and well maintained - often change of sheets and towels Only disadvantage is that you need to have a car to go to Neos Marmaras or Nikiti, it is not a walking distance (and there is no side walk on the road).

    We were robbed too at Hotel Makednos

    We arrived on August 17th, everything was ok: nice staff, clean pool, room ok for the money paid. Then ... on August 25, the nightmare began. We left the hotel in the morning by car to another nearby beach. Upon returning, around 4 pm, a Win10 tablet and a GoPro camera, in a laptop bag, were missing from the room. All our luggages were searched ... probably in search of money. That was not the case, the money was on us. I announced the receptionist, she immediately called the police. The police made their appearance shortly. After an initial finding of the event: the door with functional but forced lock, they invited me to the Police station in Agios Nikolaus to file a statement. I went to the Police station, where I gave a statement about what happened. The police officer was kind and receptive. To my question if I am able to ask for hotel compensations for the stolen goods he replied affirmative. The next day he sent a team for additional investigations, following this the Police report was issued in 5 days. Well ... during this time the receptionist repeated to me several times that I am the first victim of a theft since the hotel opened 18 years ago. The day after, based on the first conclusions of the police, I asked to be compensated by the hotel, considering their fault in ensuring a minimum security: there are no surveillance cameras, the doors cannot be locked from the outside or inside with the key but only by closing with a fixed handle, there is no guard, it is practically worse than camping. The response from the receptionist was that they would contact the hotel lawyer and then they would contact me. I mention that we only pay an advance for 2 days, following the check out to pay the remaining 12 days. 48 hours passed without an answer. Following several requests the lock of my door was changed (2 days after the incident!). My children were scared so I had to put a chair at the door to calm them as the door could not be locked from the inside. Following the compensation discussions the receptionist asked for the police report. I was asked by the receptionist if I am sure that I had in my room the objects claimed as stolen. In the meantime, I found out that I am not the first victim ... but the third in the last month, see Irena's post from August, 1st (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g668422-d1134079-r694835508-Hotel_Makednos-Nikiti_Sithonia_Halkidiki_Region_Central_Macedonia.html). I confronted the receptionist with the message, the answer was that I cant prove that I had those objects in the room. On Thursday evening I sent my compensation claim to them in writing, with the value of the damage according to the wear of the equipment (2 years). Fifth day, Friday evening I asked the receptionist again, this being the last night in the hotel. Again I was asked by the receptionist about the police report. This time I had it, I showed it, the receptionist wanted to make it a photo copy but I did not agree. I was told that within an hour I would be contacted by the Manager and / or a lawyer, further I was verbally specified that I would not be compensated. Friday evening ended with the same set of lies that I had become accustomed to ... no manager or lawyer contacted me, my interface was only a receptionist, despite my requests to talk to someone from the hotel management. On Saturday morning I paid the full amount, I did not benefit from any reduction or excuses from the reception, more than that, since Thursday I did not benefit from cleaning the room and the hotel staff behaved hostile. 48 hours after I left the hotel I received an answer in an e-mail in which, among other things, I was told to stop with the requests for compensation to them, to address the policy (sic) , as for them the crime do not exist, otherwise they will report me to the police. I do not recommend this hotel, if you want to stay there, do not leave money or electronics in the room. If you are a victim, file a statement at the police station.     Robbed during our staying in this hotel

    I don't recommend this hotel to enyone! We were despoilt- somebody broke in our room and stolen my housband's phone, laptop and money! It happened in the morning while we were on the beach. Guests in the next room were despoilt too- somebody stolen their money. And woman on the reception named Ismini Arvaneces askded me if I shure that we bring our laptop with us and that we are responsible for our personal things! Our personal things were in their hotel's room and we are responsible for them while we are outside! And after that we had to pay to them 30 euro for cover bed because my little child colored it with pencil and for towel- she said that we colored it with the sun cream. They give towels but don't use them it is definitely the most safe. I washed towel and there wasn't anything on it. I think that they found a way to take money from guests. On the reception were very unkind and if you want to be robbed go to this hotel!!!! And the hotel staff didn't do anyting to pay us demages but they called our agency to menace if we don't pay their demage from 30 euro it will pay agency! And I ask: who will pay our demage from 700 or 800 euro?!
