  Pay extra and stay anywhere else!

  Highly disappointed as this hotel has 4 stars! Immediately the moment we entered the room it smelled like a wet dog. The carpet was still wet along with stains and a false eyelash ground into the carpet. The bed is very hard with no padding. The restaurant had no western food and the toaster didnt even work. My husband got ill from an omelet that they made. We moved over to the Ramada Pearl which was amazing!

  Go anywhere else!

  It is supposed to be a 4 stars hotel, and it is quite expensive, but its a 1 Star hotel. Breakfast is really bad and if you are lucky you can have some coffee and some toasted bread. The rooms are tiny and dirty. The beds are really uncomfortable. The restaurant is a joke, we ordered some food and after 1 hour they told us they didnt have what we ordered. I spent 2 weeks here and I hated every minute I spent in this place. Even if there are no smoking signs all over the place everyone smokes everywhere. Is it enough?!?! Dont come here, sleep on the street or wherever else!!!

  Good location and not too pricey.

  I stayed at this hote on a recent trip to the city. Guanzhou is a fairly expensive city to live in China and a major destination, but despite this i found this hotel to represent fairly good value at a reasonable price. My room was big and spacious ad the bed very comfortable. Bathroom was a lttle bit cramped and outdated, with no shower option. Considering the size of the room, they could easily have made the bathroom a little more spacious. Plenty TV channels, but 99% Chinese. I found one English channel. Wifi in the room was poor and if i had been a busines traveller, this would have represented a major problem. I could not use my PC laptop at all in my room. Apparently hey were busy wit some maintenance onthe network. Definitely a negative in our internet dependant world. The breakfast buffet was included with my room and it was just ok. I won't say great because the spread was not that good and the service lacking. Waiters were very busy chatting with each other and not attentive to guests at all. This is an area where the hotel seriously needs to consider what can be done to raise the standard. Overall i felt it was ok, and the location suitable to my movements aound the city, but it may not be my first choice next time round.

  Wrong Rating as 4 Star Hotel Please rate it as 2 Star

  Very disappointing to stay at Hotel Mandarin. This is not 4 Star Hotel. Service is very poor. All travel website is rated this hotel as a 4 stars and hotel staff, even front desk staff, room service staff cant understand English when we ask for some service. Rooms are dirty and smoky smell, housekeeping service is very third class level during my 4 days stay. Breakfast is ok for non-vegetarian but for vegetarian people dont come for breakfast in morning. My overall rating for this Hotel is two stars.

  Few ups and downs...

  Hotel is Chinese guys, not western. Don't expect the same concept. A few comments: - Room is spacious and bed is comfortable. Can't complain about that. - Clean and reasonably well maintained. - If you ask for laundry services, you can't charge the room. Will have to pay cash on delivery, be aware of that. - There's huge KTV operation in three floors, try to get your room as high as possible to avoid the noise. - Expect neighbourhood sounds of those who found their everlasting love at the KTV. Happened to me 2 nights in a row. - Staff barely speak Chinglish, so you'll have to put your Chinese in the game. - Breakfast is Chinese style with 2, 3 options of bread, one kind of cheese and another strange thing I'd guess was cheese as well. If you get there by 9ish, chances are there's no bread and cheese anymore. So save it and grab a coffee somewhere else. - Shuttle buses to Canton Fair are not that much, usually 2 in the morning and 2 at the end of the day. Taxi fare to and back from Pazhou are round about 50 kuai. - There are not so far away shopping malls where you can find great amount of dining options. Recommend you try TAIKO HUI mall. Tell the driver "TAI-KOO HUWEI" and he'll know. All in all, can't complain that much. If you need a comfy bed for a reasonable price, thats it. If you mind too much about details, then maybe it's not your cup of tea.
