    Make-over needed....

This is a tough one. the location is a bit remote (taxi to Ubud around 250k). Most of the time we hired Good Bali Driver to take us on day trips. The staff is incredibly nice and goes out of their way to help you. Beautiful views here overlook the river. There really is not much around, but that's not always a bad thing. As for the villas, they definitely could use a makeover. I dont believe the walls have been painted in 20 years. Dirty Fingerprints even lipstick marks on the walls and light switch plates. The standing lights are dirty and aged. We kept saying if they put some money into this place it could be a gold mine. We loved The outdoor shower, and the unit came with a plunge pool, I believe they all do.There was a very nice infinity pool that was empty every time we were there. The breakfast was fair, but wait staff great. The terrible meal reviews kept us away from dinner, plus most nights we were out. When we tried to order cocktails they didnt have ingredients for what we asked for....and they were on the drink menu. Couple massage was great and was in semi open air. They could use a water fill up station as we were always bringing back water bottles. Last word of warning, I would keep bags zipped up. Had a HUGE spider jump out near one bag, and very large lizard looking thing run from Another...but you are out there so you see those things. The air units seem to either run too cold or too warm, but we got that fixed after a couple of days. Bikes available to ride. There is a nice farmer field nearby to bike or run on (cement), the front desk told me about it. Really a mixed bag on this place, really could use a make-over.

    Needs upgrading

Rooms are quite old already. Upgrade the matresses, more eco friendly toilets and the pillows on the sofa are a bit stinky. The surrounding is clean. Swimming pool is clean. RESTAURANT IS A MUST TRY! VERY GOOD FOOD. Good service but I think they are understaff.

    Place to unwind

The resort is a hidden gem for a good rest. I hired a scooter for 2 weeks in Ubud but the resort also has a scooter for hire or bicycles. There are also restaurants near by that will pick you up or deliver food if you want. Restaurant in resort is also good with fresh prepared food. Staff is very friendly and make your stay very welcoming. Although in some cases you might need to climb some steps, staff is taking care of lugage and good exercise. Villas are well cleaned daily and always smell fresh. They do their best to keep them free from bugs and mosquitos but then you are in nature. We love the outside shower which is a nice way to start the day and look from shower into nature. Don't worry, nobody can see you. Villas are spacious and comfortable. We loved to sit outside in the evenings? Watch the stars with a glass of wine. We buy the wine in a shop next to Bebek Bengil, wich is a nice duck restaurant, in Ubud. It is silent at night, no noises from tourists or cars. Nothing negative? Yes, although the gardens are well kept, they should do the same with Villas, pavements and around the pool. It is not so bad that I would not recommend the place but can be improved easily.

Perfect for a retreat, ordering takeaway food recommended!

We stayed as a party of 3 in Cempaka Villa #8. We found the rooms to be very spacious, the whole villa was well kept and clean, with aircon in the main living space and in both bedrooms (1 with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, 1 with 2 single beds and adjacent to the 2nd bathroom). The fixtures are old, we had read reviews warning that some villas needed upgrading, but we didn't find this to be an issue at all! We loved the private plunge pool and outdoor showers in the bathrooms too! There is also a larger infinity style pool on-site - we stayed towards the end of the busy season in Bali, so we often had this pool to ourselves! The staff were all really friendly and helpful - there are a lot of stairs (which may be an issue if you have mobility problems) but the staff were always on hand to help with carrying luggage when checking in and out of the villa. The restaurant has a wide range of food, catering to Western and Asian diets. We found the food to be okay, but not the best food we had tried whilst in Bali, plus had limited options for vegan diets available. We had read previous reviews recommending ordering takeaway food to the villas, which we did on 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed. We would recommend Balifornia and Warong Legong - both restaurants had great food, had vegan options and were great value! The resort is in a fairly secluded location, which we loved and found it to be a real peaceful retreat!

Stunning location and a wonderful stay!

We stayed here for 3 nights in December 2019, it was excellent. The check in was easy and the staff helped us to our villa which was lovely and spacious and in a great location. The staff were all kind and very polite. The villa was clean, spacious and comfortable. The beds are huge and so comfy! We were close to the pool which was lovely so the kids were made up. The pool is a good size and in a stunning location. The site was fully booked during our stay but you wouldn't have known it. We were the only guests by the pool for 2 of the days and that made our stay even more enjoyable. We did so much sight seeing in our first hotel/location that we just spent days lazing by the pool here. The menu is ok. The kids ate well but for adults maybe looking for some decent Balinese food it could do better. We would definitley stay here again! Couldn't recommend it enough.
