  Im still blown away by how clean this chalet is. I travel a lot and have NEVER found a place cleaner than this one. From the outside they look pretty hard and boring, but inside they are unbeatable. So comfortable too. Bed linen was amazing, a nice big lounge, soft warm carpet in the lounge and bedrooms, lots of heating and a seriously well equipped kitchen. The shower has instant steaming hot water, the oven is sparkling and the fridge even has a choice of drinks and snacks at super good prices. I wish I could give this place a higher score than 5. As for the surrounding area, you need a car. Theres not really anything to do, see or eat within walking distance. Probably a good idea to BYO food if youre self catering. I normally support local but the small convenience stores are limited and expensive. Dont forget to look at the suggested itinerary in your room, and do it all! So much more to see within a 30min radius than just the historic Port Arthur!

  The best place to stay!

  My wife and I stayed 2 nights in a studio. Very comfortable and immaculately clean. Great bathroom, good heating and plenty of room. No oven in this room, but has a stovetop and microwave. Justin was a great host and very helpful. Approx 10-15 mins away from Port Arthur prison site. Thoroughly recommended.

  Excellent location!

  Mason's Cottages is central to all attractions the area has to offer. There is so much to see and do without even visiting the Port Arthur convict site so visitors shouldn't limit themselves to just one day. Justin at Mason's Cottages is a veritable font of information on the local area and as host he couldn't have been more hospitable. The rooms are all you could ask for and more - the room was warm and inviting on a very cold and dreary day, the bed was comfy, the bathroom and kitchen area were beautifully clean and well appointed. I will most definitely be a return visitor.

  Amazing service and great value for money

  We stayed three nights at Mason's Cottages in July 2020. The location was perfect - 10 minutes from Port Arthur in one direction and Eaglehawk Neck in the other. Right on the main road, so easy to find. The cottages themselves were extremely clean and comfortable, gorgeous bathroom and well appointed kitchen. Very comfortable beds and very warm - electric blankets on the beds! The hosts were absolutely outstanding - so friendly and welcoming and went the extra mile several times, with many little thoughtful gestures: colouring in activities for the kids, suggested day-itineraries, even a list of the cafes and attractions which were open and closed (as COVID-19 was still keeping lots of businesses closed), so we knew what was available without having to spend ages googling. The host, Justin, even popped in to tell us that there has been phosphorescence in the nearby bay the previous night and that we might be able to see it again if we went. We really felt welcomed and taken care of. And I must say, the price is really outstanding for the brilliant service we received. This is definitely one to come back to.

  The cottages are nicely done. They are clean and tidy and have plenty of room. The bonus is the kitchenettes meaning that it is self catering. Its close to places like Port Arthur, The Coal Mines, Lavender Farm and Eaglehawk Neck
