  Spacious, well appointed motel

  Stayed for a night at this motel which sits among a long line of motels on Marine Parade. Glad I picked this one, that's for sure. From the friendly welcome to the big and modern room, everything was excellent. The room was exceptionally tidy and there was more than enough room to relax adequately. The motel is less than a ten minute walk to good restaurants and bars. I would highly recommend this motel.

  A great night's stay.

  We were looking for a motel in Napier at the last minute and happened upon Motel de la Mer. Right from walking into reception, where we were met by John we had good vibes. A very friendly chap, who gave us all the info we needed..eg..where to eat, Wi Fi etc.I guess we picked the right place as down the road was a couple of seedy looking places, used as accomodation for homeless people.This did not impact on Motel de la Mer. We ate at a nice Thai Restaurant about 400m down the road , which we thoroughly recommend. The room was excellent, very clean, tidy and had all the facilities we needed. A nice spa bath, sky tv and the usual teas/coffees. A very comfortable nights stay. Next morning John gave us all the advice we needed to find our way out of Napier and on home to Raglan.

  Comfortable clean modern & amazing veiws

  After a terrible experience with crown you were both amazing & lovely to deal with. Provided us a modern beautiful comfortable clean room with the beautiful ocean right at our fingertips. You saved our holiday and we are forever grateful & will definately be back! Thank you!

  Very Rude Staff!!!!

  When we arrived onsite the owner was really RUDE to us while trying to park up our vehicle without a hello but went straight into saying youre not staying here before asking for our details. He went on to say our motel is fully booked, youre not staying here after numerous times telling him we have booked 2 weeks earlier he continued to say I dont have a booking for adults and a bunch of kids which was really embarrassing especially with the kids sitting in the back seat who can hear his rude comments. We felt like we were being watched for every move we made because we had an extra child with us which we explained was not staying onsite but was only over to hang out with the kids. A lady had come to our room to explain the rules that we only have 4 occupants max in the room due to Health & Safety which we understood and said my niece will be taken to her parents at dinner. An hour later we received a call to say you still have 5 occupants in the room, while getting ready to leave for dinner after telling them earlier my niece was not sleeping over!!! I have stayed in numerous motels/hotels nationally and overseas and this is by far the worst experience I have faced being judged by our appearance especially being our first time in Napier. I would not recommend this motel for families with young kids as they watch you like a hawk. After all this we decided to leave Napier a day early and head to Rotorua as we did not feel welcome after all the events that took place in one day. The facilities are great and well presented, the housekeeping team really do a great job. Its a shame there is lack of service from front desk. I would recommend they reconsider their approach when dealing with people of all cultures and do not judge a book by its cover. No point marketing the property being luxury accomodation if your first impression service is well below average!!!

  Great clean motel and handy to town

  We had 2 nights at the Motel de la Mer and we'll be back next time we're in Gisborne. The room was spacious, exceptionally clean and well appointed. It's an easy stroll into town or across Marine Parade to the stony beach.
