  OK but unwelcoming. Accommodation OK but austere. The lounge was very comfortable. Restaurant not open so no food readily available. I am sorry I troubled to write the review as once started I found it had to be 200 words - that is a lot of words to describe something that wasn't very good

  Modern Villas

  We stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary, the villas are. Clean, spacious, modern and comfortable, the restaurant was not open even though we were advised it would be which made the first night difficult to find something for dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful but the price was high considering the location and availability of local restaurant.

  Definitely not what I expected

  I asked for rose petals on the bed, it didn't happen. Got the excuse, oh sorry missed that I was away. They offered to do them once we had arrived but it was too late. Be careful where you book as on booking.com it says the villas have full kitchen, they don't which was disappointing as we'd bought food to cook and couldn't. The fridge was too cold and froze everything we had to throw out vegetables and cheeses we paid good money for. It was clean except for the cigarette butts on the grass at the door. I'd suggest people book somewhere else if possible. I won't be back.

  From the Sublime to the Ridiculous

  It was my birthday and we had lunch at Margan with superb food and service. We chose Nightingale Luxury Villas because they were across the road from Margan. We were able to check in at the Villas which was good before our late lunch time. the young woman gave us a key and pointed us to our Villa with no further information. Next to where we parked was a patio with two chairs and a table. We tried to access the Villa through the doors from the patio but the key would not fit and, in any case, the screen door's handle was missing. We noticed through the glass that there was another door on the other side of the Villa. We walked around to that door which apparently is referred to as the front and were able to get in. The screen door at that entrance did not lock at all whereas the one on the patio did not unlock. We were quickly to realise that the chairs and table on the patio were not accessible unless we had walked outside around the Villa because, as mentioned, that sliding screen door could not be unlocked. We went back to the office and reported the door issues and were offered a change of room. We decided against it as we had taken our luggage, etc into the room and had used the bathroom. We also needed to get to our lunch booking. There was no information about the tv nor whom to contact for any problems, etc. We had wanted to watch the football on Ch 9 but after going back and forth through the tv programs we could not get 9, 7 or 10 only Foxtel which did not have the Sports Package so no football. We had taken a cheese and fruit platter with us for a light evening snack. Although the villa has kitchen facilities there was no sharp knife. Even more disappointing was that there was no corkscrew (& this in a vineyard area) and we had taken a special bottle of liqueur muscat which we could not open. We found a couple of small slugs in the bedroom which had come in via a crack in the wall near the window. Most annoyingly of all we discovered that we had no hot water for evening showers or to use in the spa. The latter is a well advertised highlight of the Villas. I had left two messages on the only phone number I had but had no reply. The next morning we walked up to the office which was as yet unattended and discovered a phone number on the door. We phoned this and received some remarkable responses from Katherine. She said that we should have been told by staff to enter the villa through the front door at the back. She said as tv reception is poor in the area they only have Foxtel and most people want to watch the news or a movie - not apparently sport. Although she did add that they might upgrade the packages. She said they do not have a knife because of the danger to children. My response was that these are Villas advertised for adults with only one double bed. She added that you need a drivers licence to buy a knife. I responded 'Not at Woolworths'. Perhaps she thought I wanted one large enough to gut a rabbit. I forgot to mention the slugs to her but we do have a photo. She told me that to get hot water we only needed to flick a switch outside to change the gas bottles. She then phoned a man who lived on the property who came down and did exactly that so hot water was accessed very quickly. It was a shame we did not have his number the night before. I also suggested that an information booklet would be quite useful pointing out details about the tv and also providing an emergency phone number. When leaving there was no instruction as to where to leave the key . I was told that information was going to be put back into the rooms soon. Although we were offered a free bottle of wine for so many annoyances, we decided against it because we had other plans and did not want to wait for the cellar door to open. This night's accommodation cost AUD 220 and it was a hugely disappointing night in a supposedly 'luxury' Villa.

  Peaceful & Serene

  We were pleasantly surprised of this amazing villa with views of the vineyard and mountain. Just what we needed to escape the hustle & bustle of Sydney. We had lunch at The Margan. It was a most memorable Hunter Valley experience.
