  Enjoyable but okay accommodation.

  We stayed for 3 nights in Late December. 2020. We received a warm welcome when we checked in and a map to show us our unit. Parking was a bit tight due to a small tree beside the unit that blocked the parking space. The tree was not that big but could damage the car, it had already been pruned on one side, pity they didnt do it on the other side. Quite big rooms with a good size deck, we had plenty of afternoon sun. Dark timber high ceilings, kitchen and bathroom which could do with some upgrading at some point. Very few PowerPoints . Took a while to get used to the bed as it was very firm. They allow dogs on site and of course in the rooms. There were a few people who had dogs around us, they would-bark at other dogs as they walk by particularly if the owners had gone out and left the dogs in the unit alone.. The location to shops and restaurants was very good and close to the beach for walks.

  Could be so much better

  I really wanted to love this place. The villas look really cute and the property is so pretty. It's in an excellent location, you are 1 minute walk from the 4 square, dairy and the restaurants. Yes the villas are old but they have new bedding and furniture - our bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom was old but clean. We had a really lovely welcome at reception but that's probably where it stopped for me. We arrived and had a villa down the back. We could see there are villas that look out onto the water so I tried to call reception and see if any were vacant. But the phone didn't work. After calling on my mobile I was told that they were mostly privately owned so we couldn't stay in them which is fair enough I guess. There was one of these owners in the villa opposite us , and older lady who just stood on her verandah and stared at us the whole time. The milk provided was off and when I went down to reception around 5pm they had closed despite it supposed to be open to 8pm. I called the number on the door and the man answered and sounded like he was in the pub and confused about why I was calling. So I called the second number on the door and the receptionist said she would come down. So I waited and waited, and eventually she was knocking on our door with new supplies. But she had to drive from her house to help us? Apparently the man I spoke to was the resort owner and he was supposed to be covering her shift. I don't know - it was all a bit faulty towers. For the price (reasonably expensive) I was expecting better service. I would definitely stay in Tairua again but not here.

  Overpriced

  This place is well and truly overpriced. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom taps needed new washers as they leaked, kitchen lights broken and hunting from the fittings, carpet very tired. We had to ask for more tea, coffee and toilet paper on our 3 night stay. Went for breakfast on our last morning, when we came back at 10am our room was already being cleaned and we hadn't even checked out yet. They wouldn't let us clean our teeth before we left! Location was great, but that's about it..

  Lovely environment

  We spent two nights here. Villa was well layed out and very pleasant with the high ceiling, lots of windows and a shady deck. The gardens have a tropical feel and it is positioned on the esturey. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. It was greatly appreciated to be able to have our dog with us. Two minutes walk to two nice restaurants and the little cluster of shops. Highly recommended. We will be back.

  Peaceful serenity

  This place makes you feel as though you are at a resort in Fiji or Hawaii. The room I had was right on the waterfront and the view was amazing. Staff were friendly and you could see they took a lot of pride in the place. Grounds kept very well and the best part is... Pet Friendly! It was such a great experience to bring my dog with me and still have a high standard of presentation and cleanliness. Cannot recommend enough.
