    Near perfect

To be absolutely honest, it was the best holiday we have ever had. On arrival our cases were taken to our room whilst we ate and had a drink. Throughout our stay (we opted to stay for the full 2 weeks) the staff were brilliant, ever so courteous and friendly. As for the facilities, the resort is a little bit isolated but there is entertainment every evening for the young and not so young and the beach is only a 5-10 minutes or so walk from the hotels and the village complex. There are 2 main hotel blocks within the site, plus apartments that are situated near the main hotel blocks. Our group were situated in the Pelican itself and the adjoining apartments and no complaints could be made about the rooms whatsoever.Linen and towels were changed daily. Taxis are readily available however if you want to venture out,the fares being negotiable but always very cheap compared to UK taxi fares. As we fell into the older category we were quite content to stay by the pool all day imbibing the excellent local spirits and beer! To sum up....it was as near perfect as we could have wished for, here's hoping for another visit to the Pelican in the not too distant future.

    Awful is an understatement

come back after spending a week there and it was hands down the worst holiday experience we have ever had. So many problems to go over but the biggest one was how rude the staff were. No customer care whatsoever, not willing to help anyone and literally would moan if you asked for any assistance. Our air conditioning wouldnt work and it turns out every other guests that were staying were having the same problem. After speaking to other guests, the reception staff had been telling everyone different stories from an engineer will be out to they have turned the air conditioning off throughout the hotel as it was getting ready to close for the season?!?! We had an engineer out to look at ours and the reception staff contacted us to say he will get a part for the air con the following day to fix the problem. Turns out this was a lie and they just told us that to please us at the time. The hotel has a big splash park connected to it and this was one of the reasons we booked here as we have 2 boys. Now imagine the disappointment to find out ( off other guests not the hotel staff) that it was closed, again as they were getting ready to close for the season. This was not advertised on the website and if it was we would of never booked there. All other families were complaining about this and all the staff would say is well you now know to not book at this time again! This isnt exaggerated in any way believe me, these are there actual quotes. Despite it being an all inclusive holiday a lot of the bars and pools were closed, if you have young ones in a pram then be prepared to carry it up and down stairs to get to the restaurant and pool as there are no ramps. We booked it with first choice and we (along with everyone else that were staying there) complained to the TUI rep and her response was that first choice shouldnt be selling it as they always have complaints!!!! Not really helpful to us after we had paid a lot to go there. She then went to say that the staff there are underpaid thats why they are miserable. Our youngest baby has allergy to dairy and my wife who breast feeds him has obviously cut out dairy so he doesnt have a reaction. They put out allergen advice for the food that they put out, however they put out a pastry that had a symbol that it contained just gluten. My wife had it and my baby son had a severe reaction as it turns out it contained dairy. First choice are currently dealing with our complaints and they are seriously considering not using the hotel again. The rooms were dated and not clean, no sheet on the bed when we arrived and urine on the toilet seat. We obviously asked for a maid to come up and put a clean sheet on the bed and to clean the toilet and her response was tomorrow as its to late in the night we were gobsmacked and demanded that she cleaned it which she eventually did. everyone who we spoke to that were staying at the hotel said they were taking it further to ensure the hotel isnt advertised through first choice again as there experience was as bad as ours. There are so many more issues but I think Ive ranted enough. Hope you all take the time to read this before you think of booking this hotel.

    a really excellent holiday

The Pelican hotel was delightful, smaller than the other hotels on the complex but we really enjoyed our stay there. Not very good for people with small babies or disabled as there are quite a few steps to deal with! The food did get a bit boring at the end of the fortnight but we noticed people coming over from the 5 star royal Marina Hotel as the Pelican had much better choice, oh and the cakes were excellent. There is no entertainment at the Pelican but you only have to walk down to the amphitheatre 10 Min's away were after the show there are discos and we even had a beach party one night. We would certainly come back again

I must say it was much better than we could imagine. It was in an isolated location 200 metres from a beautiful beach, taxi's were available from reception so you weren't trapped and the nearest town Sozopol was only 8km away, there were also plenty of other trips you could take by taxi or through the rep I would recommend Nessebur it was about 1hour away by taxi. There was plenty of activities going on around the complex but nothing at the pelican you had to go down on the beach by the activity pool to join in and the evening entertainment was at the amphitheatre which is about 10 minute walk away. Food was good and there was a vast selection to choose. The restaurant was nice though the air conditioning was poor though there were tables outside if you could get one. The rooms were spacious and very clean with sheets changed twice a week. The bathrooms were of a good size with clean towels daily. There was also no need for beach towels as clean towels were provided at the towel booths. The hotel public areas were well kept though This was our first holiday to Bulgaria and I would recommend this hotel and Bulgaria we would certainly go again as is it so cheap

    Great surrounds, fabulous holiday

We spent 11 nights at the pelican hotel at the end of August, there was no problem with getting a sunbed at any point during our holiday, arrive early or late and there is always a bed to be had.. Towel stations are at each pool so you can drop them in and walk to the next pool and get a clean towel, the stations do close over lunchtime but we alwaus exchanged out towels just before closure. The pelican hotel is the furthest from the beach and waterslides so providing you dont mind a short walk then it is out of the way and very quiet, the kids club is at this hotel. Duni resorts has 4 hotels within its grounds and other than the 5* hotel you can eat and drink at any of them, just have your wrist band on show and they serve you with a smile. drinks are all nice and being able to use all inclusive at all hotels is a great touch. the evening entertainment is amazing, best we have every seen in 20years of holidaying, they are a little funny with you taking photos and videos so be prepared for a tap on the shoulder if they dont want you taking any pictures. they were always polite but they like to keep there acts secret so dont want them on social media. Food was very enjoyable, we had no complaints.chips available each lunch time and evening, god send when you have 2 fussy eaters! there is the regular foods at all meal times but nothing unusual to an all inclusive resort. the garlic bread was unbelievable great for large groups as you have so much to explore and so many pools to enjoy. the water asort course for kids is good fun and only a few lev. you dont need to spend anymore money then what you paid for the holiday as so much to see and do within the hotels, watersports are an extra cost but its your choice to pay for this. the hotel has photographers going round taking photos and you get a discount for the more you buy so worth saving them over a few days and then buying them all together, i think they had 1 week at a time available. we had a great holiday and will definitely return, but, we would prefer the beach hotel as it is a little nicer, more modern and location was more to our liking. the pelican is a nice hotel but its at the back and a considerable walk (which we enjoyed) but the room was run down and the beds hard.. you will have a great time if you go to the village
