  Warm welcome, excellent cuisine

  We discovered the Hotel Kreuz-Post by chance many years ago. We have stayed their at least once per year since then. The welcome by the family of Herr Gehr is always warm, the rooms very comfortable, and the cuisine excellent. We recommend this hotel highly. And the wines from Burkheim and the Kaiserstuhl are superb.

  Spa hotel by the road.

  We spent 2 nights in the hotel and I must say I left with ambivalent feelings. The hotel is situated next to the main road therefore the rooms which are facing the street are very loud from cars. If you have a chance or planning on a longer stay I would highly recommend to ask for a room that is facing the garden. The hotel has a very nice spa with sauna and steambath, massages and kosmetik treatments. Theres a restaurant with a nice terrasse, but unfortunately the food and the service did not make up to the promise. What I can mention as a strong plus that the management is very present and attentive. They opened the spa on request and tried to get us a quieter room as well.

  Lovely Lunch

  We stopped here by chance as we did a day trip to Germany from Alsace.... Our ability to speak German was about 3% and upon establishing we were from New Zealand the staff went out of their war to assist us with the menu. Eventually an English speaking employee came to our aid. That and the following service was excellent, the food was fresh, generous portions and we had a couple of beers and a Pinot Gris, all of which were great. What happened with the weather was amazing, we were seated on a veranda with a large awning, the clouds grew darker, the wind increased and thunder clapped about us. Next thing, the heavens opened and we had to go inside due to the rain. We'd just finished our meals, so no problems, though the staff again came to assist. Shame I didn't have room for a dessert, I am sure it would have been wonderful. Enjoy your visit to the Kreuzberg Post Hotel.

  Beautiful restaurant - cozy - Make you work four your dinner

  In general Germans note that service in Switzerland is chilly and efficient, generally service staff in the Schwarzwald is welcoming and friendly. We had an interesting experience here. Phoned at 20 past 8 and asked if we can still get a meal. They said yes but we will only serve you one course if you arrive at 8.45 - kitchen closes at 9, odd welcome but made me smile. I said what if we arrive earlier?8.40 say? Can i order more than one course then. The guy says - we'll see. Ok then... we arrive at 8.40. the restaurant is gorgeous, cozy, s mix if german and english styles. We love it. People still here still eating. We say we're here 5 mins early if we order 2 courses now you prep them all at the same time and bring them out at once would that work? The lady says - no smile - ok although we told only one course. Reluctantly we are served 2 courses. I pick carpaccio ( 5 minsmax to prep) we eat. And are ignored. People at table next to ours are served dessert at 9.15 - we have eaten and seeing this say well is it possible to get a panna cotta. The answer - kitchen is closed - i point out they the table next to us just got served. The waiter shrugs...truth is they offered only one course we got two. If we'd been served with some attention and a smile and maybe given a show of regret feeling it would have been so much nicer. My meal was brilliant. Cod, sugarsnaps crab ravioli. My partners good. The friandises a bit doughy. Overall i so wanted to love the place for the atmosphere. Running a test . Coffee 20 mins after coffee and still no query for bill or anything else. We are planning a big family party for an anniversary - and this would be great venue. Sadly not friendly enough. Others have commented both americans and swiss that service was focused on German guests. Perhaps the fact weren't speaking germanwas the issue ?

  Nice old hotel

  Situated at an intersection just outside the old town of Burkheim Kreuz-Post Hotel is an ideal starting point if you want to explore the Kaiserstuhl area, by car or by foot. The hotel is somewhat old fashioned, which is to be expected as the buildning itself is from quite a few centuries ago. But everything is nice and clean and the staff is both welcoming and serviceminded. Worth mentioning is also that if you stay at this hotel you will get free transportation with a local bus company.
