  brilliant surprise

  What a brilliant secret-we arrived late,5 of us in the dark, with no accommodation booked.We were given huge comfortable rooms each, a good deal was given, and in the morning we woke to find our room balconies opened out onto a large communal balcony overlooking the river! Absolutely stunning view. Breakfast at the riverside was fantastic. We were only looking to stay overnight but opted for one of the staff giving us a morning riverboat excursion before we left. It was beautiful and he showed us quite a bit of the wildlife. The owner is a lovely man. Like many in Sri Lanka, the tsunami changed his priorities in life. His hotel was wrecked and alongside helping many who were less fortunate than himself, he is only now getting it back in shape, counting himself lucky to be able to do so. The showers were a bit dated but adequate and next in line for replacement -probably done by now. There was a bit of building work going on while we were there. There is a watersports centre at the hotel and they will boat you to the beautiful beach a little further down the river and pick you up again. Definitely worth a longer stay!

  Thriling water sport experience with very good food and accomadations.

  We had a great time at "Riverside Araliya". Rode Jetskys, Marbal boat.. n 1hr boat ride along d river under moon light.. They had "Flyboard" which was bit out of our budget. So we didn't try it. They also facilitate Para motoring through a third party. Japanease Manager was really friendly n was very flexible with our requests. Food was really good. We even received a complementary authentic japanese fish dish. Rooms are very good for the price. Clean bathrooms with hot water, automated toilet seats. Romm had Smart TV with satalite TV connection. Well worth d price

  Amazing!

  The staff were so hospitable, the food was delicious and the water sports on offer were brilliant. Probably the best hotel for water sports? They also offer fly board, which I haven't been able to find in a hotel in Sri Lanka, was very impressed!

  Short stay with a family

  We stayed here for two days as all the other hotels were full !! In comparison to £247 per night stay this was a bargain for £37 !! But this is only for the room and doesn't include any food and beware of the food bill as it can exceed to the same amount as the food bill or more in our case ! The food we had was a fried rice and curry of prawns and squid which costs about £30 the portions were so small Breakfast had string hoppers bread fruit juice (papaya juice with a lot of added sugar ! Wouldn't recommend) Sambol , Dhal curry But you do have the option of eating out so would recommend that instead The view is good and you may feed the fish ... Also there are boat and power boat rides The room had AC and a fan and weird insects and mosquitos :) but they were not bad at all The toilet system had an automated washer could have done with some simple structure and basic amenities instead Towels soap provided no tea in he room !! They have far to go ... Also we had to wait for them to clean the rooms and it took a while no lifts For the money you pay it is good !!

  Best place for Water Sports

  Recently been to this place which under new management, Well equipped instruments; fly board, 1800cc jet ski and so on with reasonable price range. Food was delicious and staffs were very friendly. Highly recommend hotel in Aluthgama.
