  A nice place and great food

  +Great food: The breakfast was superb with a wide variety and good tastes. The dinners were also great, especially the seafood and fish which were delicious (the monkfish and the oysters etc!) +The staff: Pleasant and always smiling at their guests. Helpful when needed. We were threated as guests and not as clients. +Beautiful location +The pool is nice and warm -The gym: It has the basics but it's very small and there's not enough ventilation by far. 3 persons at a time can fit in here. The rooms vary a lot. The standard double rooms are located in other buildings than the main building. These rooms looks like they were last renewed in the 80's or 90's but they're fresh nontheless. The suites in the main building are big, luxurious, have top quality tv's (bang & olufsen), terraces and are very nice all in all.

  Positive Experience

  Part of a driving tour of Denmark, we had to go to Skagen and enjoy the very northern tip of Denmark where the North Sea meets the Baltic. Highly recommend it. Our stay in Skagen was very windy, grey, a bit rainy but we just took that as part of the experience. The hotel welcomed us with a small tour and the room was charming, a Knokke-le-Zoute-ish, North-Sea chic resort village quaintness that was refreshing. The breakfast buffet was very well done with fresh ingredients and local breads and dairy and any egg preparation coming fresh from the kitchen. Their main restaurant gets busy (there are no restaurants around in this secluded enclave of skagen), the food was also very good however the welcome experience failed as we were made to sit and wait for '3 minutes' while they were going to set a table but were quickly forgotten and when my spouse became vocal, the GM who was tending tables told us that if we were not happy we could leave...hardly an attitude in line with the price paid to stay there. The front office staff however is very friendly and welcoming. The hotel has an indoor pool and spa which is very clean, has a child policy (Only allowed at certain times) and was pleasant. We went to eat elsewhere on other days. The TV did not work at all but we did not report it as the location commanded a bit of a disconnect. Wifi worked very well.

  Danish hygge & hospitality management at its very best

  We returned to Ruth Hotel after not having stayed there for some years and were welcomed back in the Ruths Hotel signature way: Hospitality management at its bery best, Danish hygge, beautiful Scandinavian decor and a focus on details that places the hotel in the very best league among hotels in DK. A wonderfully relaxing weekend stay in February

  Return visit to Ruths Hotel

  We love this legendary place and have come here on several occasions. Never disappointing, but this time with a couple of flaws. This time we got an apartment next to the hotel, which does not live up to the price level and general luxury feeling of the place. Apartment needs a lift - it's tourist class at a luxury spot. Food from Michel Michaud & Co is always very tasty and staff is very friendly and smiling, but it is annoying that you only can reserve a table for 18.00 in the Brasserie. As a hotel guest you have to wait for 30 minutes in average, for a table, later in the evening. Tables are occupied by outsiders. You would expect a privilege booking setup, for hotel guests. Drinks in the bar, when waiting, are very good, which compensates somewhat for the wait. The body scrub was a nice surprise (wellness package) and breakfast is top shelf. Mountain bike rental was only possible through a pre ordered package - but why, at this price level? We usually meet people we know from somewhere in time, when visiting - even though we are Copenhagen residents. This time was no exception (two couples) and that is always good fun. We will be back again and hope for fine tuning on the mentioned topics.

  Disappointing food and surroundings

  My wife and I stayed at Ruth´s for 1 night only. We had booked a " Gl. Skagen ophold" - including a 2 course meal and breakfast. We upgraded to a 3 course meal. First of all we were told that having booked the pre-ordered 3 course meal - we should dine at 18.00. As we had lunch at Ruths an finished that around 15.00 - 18.00 was too early for us to dine - but we were told that we would then have to take a chance and just show up at the restaurant if we wanted to dine at f.ex 19.30. We ended up waiting for 30 minutes. Strange policy that customers actually staying at the hotel - has lowest priority when booking tables. The room was very nice - newly renovated and it came with a small terrace - with so much weed - at a hight of 30-40 cm all around the terrasse. Same thing at the area outside the pool - where sunchairs were placed - weed all over. Our biggest disappointment was the poor quality of the 3 course meal. only the dessert was eatable - and service were poor. We would probably go again - but we would for sure never pre-order any menu !
