  Our Favorite Place in Kep

  We had another wonderful experience at Samanea. The property is very spacious and the villas are wonderful. We also found the team to be very friendly and helpful, from housekeeping to front office and the restaurant. We'll definitely go back again. Thanks for a great stay!

  Great idea, but execution got room for improvement

  Great location, nicely arranged beach, romantic jetty, mysterious mangrove trail, lush garden, great chef, swimming pool that could be enjoyed by a family - variety of depth and spacious enough to be enjoyed by several people at once, safe parking spot. And don't forget those mesmerizing sunsets one can enjoy endlessly! Hotel management promptly organized us a promised seasonal discount beforehand and prepped the paperwork to speed up check-in process, that was greatly appreciated after a long drive from Phnom Penh. Shoutout to Vuthy, waiter or shift manager at the restaurant - so attentive to details! We didn't want to burden restaurant with our diet restrictions (we prefer to eat paleo), but as soon as he realized we don't eat flour made food, he quickly got around by offering some nice substitutes for the breakfast, that left us with happy tummy. He went extra mile trying to organize the next day breakfast with the kitchen beforehand, as it was supposed to be his day off - attempt was highly appreciated. However him not being around made such a huge difference as the other day shift was not getting it whatsoever and as per usual they just ended up blaming us for that lol oh well, we've been around long enough and take it easy when it comes to that. As I mentioned, garden and beach set ups are very nicely arranged. However with the given climate it puts each villa in virtually permanent shade. With lots of fabrics - curtains, sofa etc - villa smells moldy; and unless A/C is on, it's unbearable to be inside because of that. Bathroom and toilet arrangements are nice, with mosquito net at the door. Another thing that took me totally by surprise: upon reservation I mentioned to the management we were going to their resort to celebrate my birthday. To what they replied they were very happy to hear we chose their resort for such occasion. However not a single compliment was offered from the resort for the birthday! A flower would suffice. Just a token of appreciation that is common in hospitality industry. Such indifference did not make less of a birthday for me, it's just very unusual to see a 4-star resort offering nothing for their guest special occasion lol One more instance that goes rather on to the 'Cons' - we were enjoying seaview on the beach when without any prior notification 2 people started spraying insecticide around while many guests, some with kids, were enjoying the beach and pool side! Such things should be coordinated on a different level at a 4-star hotel: prior communication would help. Overall, very mixed feeling from the stay. Definitely go there for the sunsets, dine in their restaurant when Vuthy is around. Is it worth money value wise? Hard to say, hard to say.

  The nicest resort in Kep / Kampot

  Nice and spatious bungalows, lush garden within a beautiful mangroove area, large seaview swimming pool, excellent breakfast and good restaurant. The resort is quiet, well managed with efficient and friendly staff. Our no. 1 choice in Kep/Kampot.

  Totally Relaxing

  We stayed at Samanea for 9 nights in March. The resort is situated in a lovely setting, with the villas dotted around the garden. The garden were so pretty at this time of the year, with all the flowers in bloom. Our villa was very clean and spacious. It was my husband's birthday while we were staying there and I mentioned this to reception. They arranged for the bed to be decorated with flower petals. House Keeping decorated the room beautifully. On the evening when we came back to the hotel for a drink, the staff came to our table with a cake and sang Happy Birthday. It was a lovely surprise, and I would like to thank the staff for their efforts. The food at Breakfast was good, you could also order a selection of hot food from the menu. We were looked after very well by Mr. Vuthi, who was polite and respectful. We ate a couple of times in the restaurant on an evening and again the food was very good. Every time we walked past reception the staff were always friendly and they will offer advice on places to visit. If you want to go to the Crab Market to sample the food, reception will order you a tuk tuk, the driver will come back for you if you give him a return time to pick you up. If you want peace and quiet then Samanea is the place to stay. For us 9 nights was maybe too long, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  Our favorite spot in Kep!

  We simply love Samanea as it offers excellent service, immaculate grounds and rooms, and a beautiful location on the water. We've now been at Samanea a few times and plan to keep returning as Samanea is our favorite place to stay when we visit Kep. The bed and living room is so comfortable for us and our kids, the bathroom and outdoor shower and bath are a favorite among all the family members, the staff provide the most wonderful customer service - always so helpful to make sure we enjoy our stay. Our kids have a great time playing in the sand with their toys or in the pool, which is perfect for a variety of ages. Since our kids are younger and dining at the restaurant isn't easy, we are grateful to be able to have breakfast and some other meals in the house on the dining table. We're also glad pets are allowed and we can bring our dog so he's not kept at a kennel for the weekend while we're out of town. Jonathan is fantastic and helps to give us any info on trips or guidance on how to find any specific items we're looking for. We love our trips to Samanea and always return to the city feeling refreshed and revived. Already looking forward to our next trip!
