  A trip back in time

  Like so many others on here, it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Budget is the main word. The walls are so thin that we were able to hear others in neighbouring rooms coughing. The beds haven't been replaced since the1950's, and came with their own plastic sheet cover. The net curtains had big brown stains on them, with some fairly old brown curtains to match. This hotel is also in a rather noisy part of town with a main road on which it is situated. Had to sleep with the window open as the heating in the room was way to hot and was not able to turn it down due it being a big 1950's radiator. There was only one plug socket in the room which had to be fixed as it was hanging off the wall and made a hissing noise when used and there was only one mirror which was in the bathroom. The rooms also come with no TV or fridge just an old brown wooden table and side table with a spot light as a makeshift bedside lamp. The breakfast was toast ,cereal, marble cake and biscuits with tea, coffee and orange juice. (extremely basic) However I must mention that the room was clean and a maid service was available everyday, the bathrooms were fairly new and also clean, but this was the only upside to this extremely dated hotel. The location was okay, but we needed to get a free bus service from just outside the hotel which took us up to the chairlift. (Couldn't have walked in ski boots, way to far) But this on occasions caught us out as sometimes we stood waiting for around 35-40 minutes, these buses are not frequent. Went at the end of March and the conditions were excellent on the top slopes but fairly sloshy at the bottom with lots of large mud patches about, but we kind of expected this as it is the end of the season. We still completed a fair amount of skiing due to the lateness of the season, so we were happy. The resort itself it a lovely old Italian town and is beautiful with lots of friendly people there. The Nelison Reps were excellent, they were always on hand if you needed them, always had a smile and were a credit to the company. They always looked well presented and were always very polite and willing to help. Had a good holiday in all but would never go back to the hotel Sayonara.

  Terrible Hotel do not book here unless you are skint!

  Like a few other reviewers I read the mixed feedback for this hotel and was travelling in the hope some people had been overly harsh, unfortunately not!! Walls are indeed paper thin, I felt like I knew our next door neighbours very well by the end of our 7 night stay and never met them! The rooms are very dated, bathroom was basic with a broken plastic consotina door from the 70's but one of the worst things about the room was absolutely no temperature control so was like a sauna (maybe they should list this as a positive Spa feature of the hotel!?!). The only other option was to open the window and put up with noise from the street along with noise from other guests in the rooms above and beside you. Not going to repeat what everyone else has slated but listen to their advice!! One of my friends booked this hotel for a value holiday but I would strongly recommend paying an extra £100 or so for a much better hotel and therefore holiday experience - a skiing/boarding trip is not a 'value' holiday and I guess you just have to accept that...will cost me more when I have to take the misses away agian to make up for how bad this place was!! One final point, if you do decide to book this hotel check out the signs around the hotel and in your room and see if you can decipher what they are on about!!!

  Dated and Shabby

  The only thing going for this place was it was clean. No TV. No bar, No coffee, No WiFi.No Parking. (only on street in the week) Stale bread rolls , Morning coffee was like tar, Camp beds with plastic under sheet. Drains smell. The owner was at best unhelpful and just came in my room without the curtesy of knocking and turned the light off (9 pm). That is one place I would not be going back to.

  Not as bad as it s reviews!

  This hotel is basic, and with most rooms having a single connecting door, you can hear everything that's going on. Apart from that, we (a group of 8) found it clean, reasonable size (bigger than some more expensive ones I've stayed in) and our shower (room 206) was more than ample (however, some of our group did say that their showers were lacking pressure). While I probably wouldn't go there with my wife (she likes ski-in, ski-out) I would happily go again - especially for the price! It's not like you spen a lot of time in your ski holiday room! There is also a 'secure' boot and ski room under the hotel. The running of the hotel was coordinated by a local larger hotel (Relais des Alpes) 200 yds up the road, breakfast was supplied by them for 5 per day (more than adequate and very helpful staff). Location was good, although, if you want to walk to the slopes it will take you 10 mins in to town then up a hill. However, you can get the bus as we did (50 yds down the road), as it was the first stop we never had a problem getting on - not the same for the next stop! The town was great, our groups age range was 25-58 and we had a ball, the bars were all excellent and the staff very friendly - most aprés ski bars offered free snacks for the table and the prices were very reasonable. Caffé della Seggiovia (centre of town) was excellent with great staff and a great atmosphere for aprés ski. The Village bar was also good (opposite the end of the slope) although the steps in and out are long:) Night life - check out Osteria Dei Vagabondi - awesome! Restaurants on the slopes were great with far too much to eat and great value - my pick, Ciao Pais, you can even drop in by helicopter! Probably the best value ski holiday I've done!

  Be Realistic, you don't get an Aston Martin for Austin Allegro price do ya?

  Guys, a friend and I stayed in the Sayonara in January 2012 and think some reviewers are expecting a little too much for their money. The hotel was clean, the beds comfortable and we found the owner/operator friendly and helpful (lets face it we're were there to ski not add to our list of friends). Perhaps the unfriendly demeanour percieved by some was down to their own general dissatisfaction with not getting Hilton standard accommodation, which in my view is a little unrealistic and unfair. We travelled with Neilson and got flights, transfer, accomadation, ski pass and ski hire for less than 500 quid. With regards to the paper thin walls, can't say we noticed as we took full advantage of the varied apres available in the town. (Perhaps the people staying next door to us may have a different view as one night I fell asleep with my iPod dock on but hey, doesn't everyone love Motorhead?) I would suggest if skiing is your main holiday for the year and luxury is a requirement put your hand in your pocket and pay for it. If you want clean, comfy and affordable in times of recession, you could do alot worse. if you want perfection and hotel staff tugging their forlocks, try somewhere else. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. (I bought the guy next door a pint and discussed the virtues of Ace of Spades as a genre defining modern classic but did concede that it may not be best enjoyed at 4 o clock in the morning. My Bad.)
