    Charming!

We never stayed prior to the renovation, but the place is charming and has a lot of potential. The people working the front desk, the man cooking breakfast (which was really good), and the custodian were very polite and friendly. There is a very nice courtyard which could be great for private parties during warm weather. Some heaters outside could make it a nice extension to the bar area. The room was nice...perhaps not quite as warm as it could be, but everything was new. The heated toilet seat was unexpected and pretty cool. The only reasons this got a 4 instead of a 5 were because I thought perhaps not enough attention was paid to some cleaning details, like even though its a self-cleaning toilet it could have used a slightly harder manual inside the rim cleaning, little things like light switches seemed dirty, and the AC/Heat was so incredibly loud when it kicked on I woke up several times during the night. Would also be a good idea to sanitize the remotes and put them in those little bags with the notes saying they have been cleaned...those are the nice mental detail touches that help. I would also get rid of the decorative pillows that cant be laundered between stays. Decorative pillows end up on chairs and floors and then back on clean pillows! Overall though it was a charming stay.

    Never Again

Rate was $150 before taxes not including a parking fee of $17 before taxes; this fee was regardless of whether you used "valet" parking or self - park, in the small lot right across the street from the hotel. The room had NO dresser, a closet which contained a refrigerator, a coffee pot, two small open shelves, and two small rods for that held enough space for only 4 hung garments above the refrigerator. The bathroom had an electrified toilet with a heated seat and bidet function. The motor was continually running so we disabled it to avoid the sound of the running motor. The large mirror over the bathroom sink had a non working TV imbedded in it leaving us with about 1/3 of the viewing area of th mirror. They must have received many complaints about that so they include a free-standing "dressing" mirror so you can actually see for shaving/makeup/dressing purposes. The shower was nothing short of dangerous as its floor was terribly slippery. Apparently they were either complained to about this or had guests fall because they has safety bars all over each of the three sides of the shower. I asked the front desk for a rubber floor mat which they said they didn't have but gave me an extra shower towel for the floor of the shower. The breakfast was good and included in the room rate. Housekeeping neglected to replenish the coffee packets and cups used with the room's coffee pot. All in all a sad experience.

    Love this hotel!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Seven Gables Inn last month. This hotel has recently been remodeled and has managed to keep all of it's charm. It is quaint and comfortable, you feel as though you are staying in a European hotel. It is a great location as you are in Clayton which has lots of bars and restuarants and your about 15 minutes to downtown. They offer valet/self parking for $17 a day and you can come and go as you please. There is a wonderful patio out back. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially Kayla Evans the general manager. I had originally planned to stay three nights but cut my trip a day short due to Covid 19. I am looking forward to my next stay in September.

Great hotel, Great Staff, Great location

I came to St. Louis to be with my Mom who had a stroke. I needed a hotel where I would feel comfortable, have room to work and relax, and most of all, feel taken care of. The Seven Gables Inn had a suite that was well appointed yet comfortable, clean and even had a large and beautifully done bathroom. Most important was the staff who are kind and go above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. I want to specially mention Laura at the front desk, Naomi who runs the food services and a very nice super tall man who brought us towels etc. If you are looking for a charming hotel punctuated by warmth and kindness, this is the place.

    Lovely staycation option

My wife and I celebrated our winter weather wedding anniversary by reserving the King Suite at Seven Gables Inn on a Saturday night. The historic hotel has been nicely renovated. Our two room suite was cozy yet spacious. Two large tvs, large bathroom with tub, shower, and bidet, small fridge, dining and sitting areas. Lots of character! Clean and inviting. We enjoyed a socially distanced meal at their restaurant Seven. Menu is small but food was very good and plentiful. Snowy evening meant few guests so we enjoyed excellent service. Would be interested in returning during warmer weather to enjoy more of the area. Value was excellent for Clayton. Very happy with our stay!
