  un entorno precioso

  Estuvimos comiendo despues de dar un paseo por la zona. Se encuentra en un lugar privilegiado en Tarr Steps, un puente de piedra milenario. Ambiente rústico, comida estupenda y un servicio rápido y amable. Uno de los lugares más bonitos de Exmoor. Sin duda volveré.

  Awful service

  We visited today and we were told to go outside. We sat down at waited 20 minutes to be served. Others were served before us even though they arrived after us. We asked to be served and were told to wait our turn and it would take 40 minutes to get us a drink. Avoid at all costs!

  Great Sunday lunch

  Having eaten at the inn before we decided to book a table for Sunday lunch when down on a recent break. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, both the beef and pork cooked to perfection, and with a great selection of deserts. The location is also excellent with ample opportunity to burn off a big lunch with walks along the river.

  Luxury and hospitality in the heart of Exmoor

  Dog friendly accommodation and gastropub excellence in the wilds of Exmoor overlooking the historic Tarr Steps bridge. Free wifi in comfortable ensuite rooms and luxurious toiletries that you can easily identify because the labels are readable without glasses to us old folks! Exemplary service and first class meals for breakfast and dinner.

  Mind the Ford but otherwise excellent

  I had a very good stay here once I found it! There should be a warning on the hotel Website not just to rely on the postcode since with WAZE it took two out of our party down to a ford literally opposite the hotel-probably fine to cross In a drought but lethal for a car at this time of year! And even more lethal to reverse back up the hill. (Apparently Google maps may be better). The bottom line is that you MUST get there via Withypool-if in doubt ask at the Royal Oak for final part of route. When I politely mentioned this problem to the front desk they were totally dismissive. Mistake! Otherwise a fantastic stay. Delicious dinner and most comfortable room with all mod cons and good value. With a small tweak to the Website I would give it 5 stars!
