  Great location and value

  My daughter wanted to visit a friend in the IOW, I was reluctant to book anything too far in advance for obvious reasons but a quick web search 4 days out produced a twin room at the Channel View. Booked, paid for, arrived on Monday 19th to a friendly greeting, temperature taken, and directed to a first floor room. The room was bigger than I expected, room and bathroom were spotlessly clean with complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee (replenished daily), comfortable beds- in fact anything you need for a short break. We didn't use the facilities other than the room and breakfast (well, I did anyway, my teenage daughter preferring the extra time in bed...!), but there were plenty of breakfast options, accompanied by sufficient coffee to get me going for the day! Fantastic location for the beach (but beware, it's uphill going back!), short walk (less than 10 mins) from the rail and bus stations, about 15 mins or so from the old village. Ample car parking should you require it. Excellent value for money, polite and friendly staff, spotlessly clean, what more could you ask for?

  Fantastic Hotel

  Just returned from a 5 day stay at the Channel View Hotel and what a fab stay it was. Having walked pasted the hotel on many occasions since the mid 80s my wife and I were looking forward to our stay, and we werent disappointed. The location for the costal path and the prom is ideal, with the old town and main shopping areas just a short walk away. Our room was clean and well appointed with a great sea view, the bar was well stocked situated in a large dance hall. The restaurant where we had breakfast and evening meal had a great pan panoramic view of the channel. All our meals were of a very high standard and quality, a quality you would be hard to find in Shanklin. In closing the staff need to be praised for the attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was one to remember fir the right reasons - a great holiday!

  Great Value For Money

  We stayed at Channel View Hotel as a family of four, consisting of two adults and two children. Upon arrival we found all the staff to be so friendly and happy. Our accommodation was well above what we expected for the price we paid. It was easily a four to five star rating. The restaurant staff were exceptionally kind and nothing was to much. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Channel View Hotel and will definitely return again when we return to see what we was unable to fit in/see on this short stay visit.

  Great Hotel

  A comfortable and plecant Hotel giving great service in a very friendly manner Excellent food and plenty of it Staff couldn't do eight to make our stay good and combined with daily maid staff attention daily I would definitely use this Hotel again

  Almost very good

  The Channel View is a very traditional seaside hotel, which in a way is a very good thing. Service is polite and correct and nothing is too much bother. The late evening manager was a particularly engaging and personable character. However the reliance on the coach trade shows in the evening meal which I would describe as adequate. I dont know what budget the chef has to work with to meet the tight margins that are likely to apply but I reckon he/she is doing pretty well. Its just that it would be nice to have a slightly more adventurous option on a higher priced menu maybe. A similar comment applies to the wine choice, although the wine of the week that was available when we stayed was an amazing bargain. The hotel is vast and has a large dance floor as well as pleasant outside terracing. Its overall position is very good and we were lucky enough to have a corner room from which the views were superb. But as with the rest of the hotel it could do with a bit of extra investment (elements of the bathroom were in need of it). The sleep quality was brilliant I have to say, though. Its difficult in the hotel trade to take a punt on a major upgrade but if someone could dig in their pockets and take it up a notch or two they could turn this into one of the best hotels on the island.
