  Very good country hotel

  Excellent stay - happy to book again. Particularly good food in the restaurant. Very good breakfast cooked to order. Very nice bar/lounge area. Only slight negative is that the single room is quite small.

  Beautiful Weekend Break!

  Loved staying here. Our room was perfect and just what we wanted. Perfect location, just a few minutes from town centre but enough out of the way to have a peaceful stay. We had a great breakfast in the garden. The lady that looked after us (sorry I cant remember your name!) was most helpful and accommodating. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  Disappointing Birthday stay

  I'm not sure the people who are reviewing this pub stayed at the same one. On arriving we were given a key to our room as per covid precautions. The room was called Coopers a classic double for 1 night £120 with breakfast. The room was dirty smelled of fat dryers from kitchen below also extractors from the kitchen were on full blast. So asked if there was any possibility of being moved to another room, which was refused as fully booked informed that extractors would be turned off at 9.30pm luckily, we were eating in Winchester so did not return until 10pm and extractors were turned off. Plus points: nice thick white bath towels, good shower pressure, plenty of good class teas. Breakfast: NO help yourself buffet(which was acceptable due to covid), asked for tea and was given a teapot with one teabag. Not quality teabags like there were in the room. Hoped it might get stronger after brewing but no. Young girl who served us. Seemed very bemused and didn't seem bothered about offering any alternatives when I asked for grapefruit, which her reply we have an apple, orange or banana, which I queried you don't have tinned grapefruit segments. No apparently don't have anything like that, no fruit juices offered, but then saw juice being taken to another table, so my husband and I finally had juice. No toast or marmalade offered, possibly we could have asked but by now we just wanted to get out of the place. We had been to the Peak District the week before and what a difference the attitude of staff there, so friendly and trained properly. Don't rest on your laurels who ever owns the Kings Head. And maybe update all the bedrooms as ours was definitely not classy. This was meant to be a lovely weekend away for my birthday, and its one I'd prefer to forget.

  Friday Night Trip Away

  Booked this through Booking.com. The room didnt look as nice as photograph. Tired furniture, cobweb on single pane draughty window beside fairly busy road. A delivery in the middle of the night. Therefore, terrible sleep quality. Despite a radiator the room was very cold. We needed to sit under bed clothes to keep warm whilst relaxing. Bar a nice area and sat by a fire but again generally cold. Food was good but expensive bar bill for what we had. Its a lovely looking pub and xmas decs nice but a mix up in room rate, adding a £30 extra on for the night made this a lot for what we feel we received. Afraid to say wouldnt go back.

  Great nights sleep.

  Nice spacious rooms with very comfy bed. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and tidy. Nice quiet village location close to Winchester. Plenty of parking. Great breakfast with large selection. Good value for money. Would highly recommend
