Making the Dream a Reality, culture, spirit, pro, freedomfessionalism, fun

Torre Macauda situated less than 10 minutes drive from the beautiful town of Sciacca is an undiscovered jewel on the southwest coast of Sicily. It offers everything from sun, sea, sand, fun, theatre, music, dancing, comedy, great food, wine and brillant company. If you are looking for the real taste of italian culture we believe this is the place to go. They have own private beach where you can either be transported to it by their own bus or you can also take the five minute romantic stroll down through the woods and smell all the beautiful pines, euculptus trees and taste the sea water on your lips. The village is geared for the young at heart accomodating the needs of all age groups. (You can stay either in the hotel or their lovely individual cottages) The staff are the best you will meet anywhere in the world and make every effort to ensure your stay is perfect. We were amazed at how well everyone worked together. The team work is to be admired and complimented. Just one of our favourite things whilst on this visit was the fantastic barbeque organised at the pool on a Thursday evening, it would take others a month to organise it, here it was done in a day and the result was beautiful food, fantastic colours and the aromas. oh folks it was to die for. It was like the best wedding we were ever at and thought about renewing our vows on our next vist and telling our friends that we were inviting lots of our italian friends to our wedding and making sure it co-insided with the barbeque! oh how everyone would be impressed. Torre Macauda offers many ways of discovering Sicily:visits to Mount Etna, Temples@Sellinunte, Riberia Market, Temples @ Agrigento and lots of other spectacular sights. However as the Villagelhas everything you could possibly want it can be hard to tear yourselve away. Just some of the things to do: yoga, acqua aerobics, archery, kids club, theatre, quad biking, horse riding, water sports, Disco, or you just want some peace and quiet and a romantic time, its all here. Torre Macauda puts into practice what others can only talk about. The reason for this we believe is that all those involved, staff management alike really do put the customer first and are happy and proud in their jobs and so sincere in their aim to provide a magnificent service. Our only complaint was the days went to fast on us. We were entertained from morning to late at night, you will find it hard to leave the village and the fantastic facilities it offers. We were hoping our flights would be cancelled. The other clients staying at the village went out of their way each day whether at meal times or out and about to also make sure we felt welcome, where would it happen? They came over or sent there children over to talk to us and gave us the thumbs up so many times. We have never experienced being made feel so welcome anywhere. The professionalism and spirit of the staff at Torre Macauda is out on its own. If you go to visit make sure to say ciao to Baldo and Ida at Reception, to Roberto and all his team at the bar, to Joe in the souveneir shop, all the guys in the restaurant who just make meal time a pleasure and to all the guys in photovillage, thank you all for so many beautiful memories. And lets not forget the very creative and talented crew of gattomatto amzone though our italian is very poor except for the few basics we understood and thorougly appreciated your comedy sketches and will be laughing for sometime to come. Cafe Royale is brillant. Trying to sum it all up is very hard. Torre Macuada makes the dream a reality we dare you to go and experience its uniqueness and wish all those associated with Torre Macauda continued success for the future and look forward to returning next year and every year thereafter hopefully. If we win the lotto we will want a share in it. Finally dont forget to tell them that Giovanni Trapattoni is now half Irish. The Daly-Mulligan Family Waterford Ireland July 2009. The Daly-Mulligan Family Tops for Torre Macauda Village No Mosquitos, if there was they didnt bite us and we always get bit anywhere else we go. Crystal clear sea and so Blue Swimming pools safe and clean Life guards in action both at beach and at pool. Food to die for Snacks, beverages and ice creams available always Prices reasonable Gardens ornate and private Scenery bury us here please! Space and privacy for all Environmentally friendly solar heating, water treatment, etc. Free sunbeds and umbrellas both at pool and private beach Free fresh drinking water available at bar, pool and restaurant. Safety & Security in all activities and all areas Free parking lots of spaces in the shade Easily reachable to everywhere Cleanliness & Hygiene paramount in all they undertook Service 24 hours 7 days a week. (excellent) They integrated people with intellectual disabilities into employment Team work in all areas of their services a unique spirit and culture Excellent entertainment programme & their use of technology during these activities was excellent. big but boring place

I was bougjht a week in the hotel and was deeply disappoitment byset of possible activity: if you do not have a car only you can do is sun beaching and eating inlonely resotaunt. Hotelis located in isolated place with animatin in Italian only. I stayed in appoartment - there is kitchen but no windows and no AC, so in nigh it becomes too hot. The room was not cleand during one week and hotel required to pay extra 30 euros to clean in after my leaving - standart practise of the above charge.

Army Barracks Filled With Screaming Children

We travel extensively and were extremely disappointed with this hotel. The service was horrible (room never cleaned and no fresh towels), the reception desk people were indifferent and couldn't care less about the guests, the hotel was old, ugly and dirty. The hallways to the room areas used circa 1970's blue/green linoleum in the hallways with stark white walls. The room looked like an army barracks or a college dormitory with a rock-hard bed, ancient pillows (had to ask more than twice for extra pillows), old ratty towels, a 30-year-old television that didn't work, no dressers or drawer space - only formica shelves. The kicker was the balcony. The balcony had no furniture on it so you couldn't sit on it to get out of the ugly room. The balcony also had no privacy. There was a single railing on each side so your neighbors were literally right there next to you. The neighbors in this hotel were noisey, screaming families with no class. The kids were running and screaming all over this hotel, the pool areas, the common areas all hours of the day and night. They also had a very loud pool line dancing class every afternoon with full amplification that seemed to last for hours on end. Also, mothers were bringing toddlers wearing diapers in the pool. This is grossly unsanitary but no-one seemed to care. Needless to say, there was no way we would think of going in that pool. There was a half-way decent beach that they'd bring you down by a shuttle. Lots of steps, rocks and then a small area of sand. Nothing to write home about. The dining area was like a school cafeteria with a terrible buffet with horrible food. We endured that torture once and that was it. People came to dinner wearing their bathing suits. It was really gross. This is not a hotel for couples. It is meant for people with out of control screaming children that believe being about :20 minutes from the next closest town in the middle of nowhere is the place to be for a vacation. I would never stay at this horrible place again. You would be better off in a bed and breakfast in Sciacca, or better yet, stay in Agrigento where there are very nice hotels and a lovely and clean city with some culture and history.

We won't be staying at this hotel again.

They assured us that your reservation was guaranteed whatever time you arrive - but let the hotel know if you're going to be later than 11pm. So we contacted them to let them know of our late arrival. Upon arriving, we were told that they had cancelled our room because we didn't show up. In the end, we booked another room - so beware. The room was basic - as we expected, but it could've been cleaner. Tea was provided in the rooms. The bed was uncomfortable. We won't be staying at this hotel again.

    Torre Macauda

Torre Macauda is over-priced. It should be rated as a 2 star hotel - or less. Please avoid staying here. We booked 3 rooms. There were hundreds of ants in my parent's room. Management does not care. Once you pay, it is difficult to get your money back. If you are seriously thinking of staying here for more than 2 days, please book and pay for 2 days first before you commit to a longer stay. The hotel shows its age. The rooms are spacious, but very basic. Breakfast was horrible! Most of breakfast consisted of sweets such as donuts, pasties, and cookies. My parent's were born in this region (they now live in North America), and they wondered why there was no milk, no cheese, no eggs, no oranges, no bananas or other fruit! It is quite sad when a hotel cannot even offer the bountiful fruit and fresh food of its' region to the guests. For the price we paid, there should have been better quality food at breakfast and dinner. One morning my husband asked for a hard boiled egg. We were brought to the back room, given a pot with water and told to boil our own eggs, and not tell the other guests about it. So, they do have eggs! We were sick of the food after 2 days. The pool was ok. But, beware of the beach area. You have to catch a bus (included in your hotel price) which takes you from the pool area down below cliff where the beach is. The bus is never on time. Some days, it did not even show up. When you finally get on the bus, it is crowded and most of the time, only standing room was available. Then, there's the beach. Honestly, it looks more like a lagoon. It is a very short beach. Not wide at all. There are no beach chairs, nor umbrellas. The beach is rocky, and the water cold. There are not any stairs/steps that lead to the beach. You have to hobble along the rocks. To make things worse, it's a public beach, not a private beach as Torre Macauda leads you to believe because we ran into local people who told us that many locals swim here. There are no washroom services, nor drinking water or food available at this beach. We were lucky enough to have our on transportation, however we still felt cut off from the rest of the region. We will never stay here again. I suggest you look for a hotel in town, or book an apartment or bed & breakfast in town. Really shop around and do your homework.
