  SERVICE IS GROWING IN RUSSIA

  Once upon a time visiting a Russian hotel was like banishment to a Gulag, or worse yet a night in a quaint remodelled concentration camp. Times have changed and so has the service and offering model. We stayed in this hotel and to our amazement - although - not cheap, the service was excellent, the rooms clean modern and equipped with air conditioning. We ordered food to the room for dinner and to our delight was served within 15 minutes. Every query was promptly answered and even a request for an extra pillow immediately seen to. I was quite pleased with the experience which eclipsed many other experiences I had in Europe. EU pull up your socks, the Russians have grown up and are just starting to look at tourism as a serious business. The Russians are extremely thorough and will go to extremes to make you feel comfortable and welcome. My thanks and for a wonderful experience.

  One word - awful

  I had the misfortune to spend three nights here on a business trip to Yekaterinburg. Perhaps I was unlucky, arriving late on a holiday Saturday, staying over the holiday Sunday/Monday as well. The room card didn't work the first couple of times and the room, once access was finally gained, was spartan, run down and had a view into a back car park. The lights constantly flickered and the bed was very uncomfortable and noisy - every time you moved, it creaked. Did not make for a good night's sleep. In the morning, things went downhill. There was no hot water available for a shower. This persisted throughout my stay until the morning I was leaving when finally some lukewarm water arrived. I raised this at reception but was told that you need to wait a few minutes to get the hot to flow...I gave up after 15 minutes. At least the 3 mornings of ice cold showers woke me up for the day! There was no breakfast available on the Sunday when I went down to the restaurant at 08.00. No staff had turned up. No real apology or alternative offered. The next morning, only a temporary facility was available and when given a menu to choose from, most of the things on offer not available. Things seemed to get back to normal on the Tuesday morning with a full buffet style breakfast available. The hotel did have a couple of good things - an excellent pick-up service from the airport and a decent free high-speed wifi. I have stayed in Russia many times over the last 25 years and have never had an issue with any hotel until this one. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

  Acceptable, but no more than that...

  Finding this hotel was a challenge, since the official address appears to be some kind of consulate 'round the back' of the building. Finally got there and found a pretty mediocre hotel. The staff were OK and the room wasn't too bad, but the place had no soul. Breakfast was reasonable, if not brilliant, and the location wasn't too bad, but the whole place felt a bit unloved and unloving. Couldn't really recommend it...

  very well

  The hotel is very well located. It's very clean and quiet. It's at 5 mn to skyscraper/business center "", Lenina Street, Plotinka, etc. with an environment very quiet and safety. Important information : The street indicated (Gogolya St.) is wrong. It's the service entry. 1- Ask to taxi driver if he knows very well the hotel or 2- Ask to go the Novotel hotel. The main entry is at 30 meters of the Novotel (see the map joined)

  Good hotel, good location

  Located very close to the large tower block and a stroll to all the main attractions of this beautiful city the TransHotel was pretty good value for money even during the world cup. The rooms are decent and quite comfortable. It's not luxurious by any means but it's ok. Decent breakfast too! Great private parking for the motorbikes !
