  Neglected and overrated

  The Oriental Jianguo Hotel Wuhan is centrally located 200 metres from Hankou railway station. It has over 300 rooms. It's a pompous building from the 80ties. The 5 stars have long ago faded. The reception staff was not really cheerful and it annoyed them to have another foreigner coming to the hotel. I was lucky my Chinese colleague was taking care of the registration. Already in the corridor guest are hit by stale air, the carpets are shabby with dust accumulation all along the walls. The bad first impression confirmed when entering the room. They are outdated and creepy. The cleaning is superficial. The bathroom and the shower an abomination, unsanitary, calcified with soaps stains, and rotten seals. The WiFi connection was so slow that it was useless. The breakfast is a disgrace considering the quality and choice. I preferred to have breakfast at McDonald's in train station (?) After the first night I checked out. The location is ideal, but it is a complete joke to advertise this place as a 5-star property.

  Location

  Selected the hotel because it was conveniently located for our needs and we had stayed there at least 5 years previously. Hotel staff were second to none however; the hotel is run down. Dirty windows, rooms need up dating, bed sheets with holes in them. We stayed during the seasonal switch from heating to cooling. No cooling available during this service change period. Very few amenities in the hotel. Owners/management need to put some serious money into the hotel to bring it back to its glory days as the first 5 star hotel in Wuhan. Would not stay again.

  Excellent front desk

  It claims to be a 5 star hotel. But in my pinion, it is only a 4 star one. A little dated. The cleanliness of the room was inadequate. The bed was made without a proper sheet, which was also stained. Air condition did not function very well. No cool air before the noon every day. One day, I took a shower at 11AM. So surprised to find that there was no hot water. Free and fast WiFi. Average breakfast buffet. . The front desk service was excellent. Especially Miss Xu (), she provided very attentive and helpful services.

  . Good location and facilities,

  I have sayed at this hotel several times including new years eve 2000 and 2001 and a recent trip in April 2017, I would stay there again if in Wuhan.. Very close to the new subway station at Hankou and Hankou Railway Station

  Good location, but a very average experience

  If you have an early train to catch from Hankou station then this hotel has a very convenient location. I spent 400rmb for a one night stay, check in begins at noon which is great. The room and bathroom are big and nicely decorated, however all of the furniture is old/worn and in bad need of an upgrade. The shower had some black mould along the base. My biggest issue with the hotel was the noise. The constant sound of cars and horns until after 2am and starting again at 5am. I did stay over Chinese New Year so I am sure the station was much busier than usual.
