  Muy bien situado

  El hotel está muy centrico, justo a la orilla del río. Es dificil valorar el servicio ya que sólo en recepción había una persona que hablaba algo de inglés. Con el resto nos hemos entendido por señas. Sólo hemos dormido una noche (el 28 de agosto) y lo que puedo decir es que lo que menos me ha gustado es la cama, demasiado dura (puede que sea más sana, pero si duermes de lado te haces polco la cadera). El desayuno apenas con un suficiente.

  Underwhelming, with mystery features

  Dreadfully tired hotel with smoky smelly rooms and the staff told us the air con was turned off by management to save money as it was going to be 12 overnight. We got them to open a window. The air fan itself was working if you like loud mechanical creaking. Hot water and clean sheets. Bring own tea bags. All the lights came on three times about four thirty am, seemed to be a power issue. We were forced to have dinner here, it was terrible. McDonald's fries was one traditional chinese dish we were given. Our driver and guide also stayed here so since they are bilingual, the difficulty with food was a bit incomprehensible. A maid used her access card to enter our room unannounced as well. No knock. And wrong room! Fortunately we were dressed. Representative of this uncommendable city. Sorry Chengde, not worth the sleepover.

  Hotel fine. Reception cold.

  Chengde is a wonderful city. We have just had the most wonderful Chinese meal around the corner from the hotel and walking back, we experienced a myriad of middle aged dancers on the street. Some were ball rooming, some looked like Mao's last, but how could you not enjoy the place and the hotel. Our room is lovely, clean and very tastefully Oriental. Bathroom is modern and the room itself quite large and tastefully appointed with a view overlooking the river and the night lights. There are a variety of goods on offer in the room but sadly a number of them are for sale!!! You have to pay for coffee and the fridge was not turned on. While we consider this a nice hotel, the two girls at reception were icy. No welcome just a stern request for passports and then returned with sourness. My only complaint.

  A surprise

  So after reading all the reviews about this hotel I had misgivings staying here but found it nothing like the reviews. The staff were friendly, the air con worked, the wifi worked in the room, it was clean and refurbished, rooms were quiet and the food in the restaurant was great. There were two options for breakfast. A sad western option or a chinese buffet in the chinese restaurant. Go the Chinese. Chengde is a great city with beautiful temples. Definitely worth the trip. I would stay in this hotel again if I returned.

  great staff, spacious room

  Beautiful room with nice view. The staff (i always talked to the same person) was excellent, spoke outstanding english, very helpful, friendly, personal, professional. Made me feel welcome as never before. There are 2 breakfast restaurants, 1 chinese, 1 western. Which i didn't realize, so ended up using breakfast coupon in the wrong one.
