  Service not worth the price

  We were in Gulu with a couple of friends and were looking for places to stay. We found that the rooms were not in the best state. The cheapest room for instance felt like being in a prison cell. We opted out and went else where. If ever it was nice, then it has lost its past glory and needs work to measure up.

  Hotel with airco

  Airco is luxury in Uganda . Most of the time electricity falls out in the evening So then it Will become warmer. Nice swimmingpool and garden. Bathroom was small. The bed had musquito nets but there were holes in it. Breakfest was ok.

  Not the "Serena" I was told about

  I had been told before that Acholi inn was the "Serena" of sorts for Gulu and had always avoided staying there on my visits to Gulu. But I finally got a chance to spend one night there after arriving in Gulu so late in the night(9pm). The reception was not appealing at all. And as we were led to our double room,I noticed the floor and stairs were so dirty. The room itself was not that you would expect in a classy hotel. The desk and chair were so old and worn out.The wall was cracked. The mattress did not fit the bed.The TV itself was old and the volume control button was out of order,I could not turn down the volume. I did not find warm water as well. The Wi-Fi at least was working. Even if renovations are ongoing, it is hard to even see the difference.

  Nice pool but rooms and breakfast not so nice

  This hotel with huge facilities (that don't seem to be fully used) is a bit run down and not working so well. Specifically, the mosquito nets in our room couldn't be closed properly so I was bitten about 20 times in one night, and further they were out of toast when I was going to have breakfast. The upside is the pool and the lounge area, which are pleasant (though the pool water was not so clean...) with nice staff and good food in the restaurant. And the price was pretty competitive.
