  Un hotel tranquilo al lado del mar

  Siguiendo con nuestro viaje por Dinamarca buscando hoteles a precio razonable, encontramos este por unos 80 euros (aunque es algo caro para nosotros, todos los hoteles de por allí son mas caros que en Alemania o España). Esta en un pequeño pueblo junto al mar y no muy lejos de la autopista, es un lugar muy tranquilo. El hotel se divide en dos partes; un pequeño palacete donde esta la recepción y las habitaciones mas caras, y detrás, hay una zona de parking y un edificio de planta baja con habitaciones tipo Motel, que es donde nos alojaron: como bueno, decir que podías dejar el coche a la puerta de la habitación, lo malo es que la entrada estaba llena de arañas, pero no, arañitas pequenas, eran del tamaño de una moneda de 2 centimos (esto pasa en muchos sitios del norte de europa), seguro que eran inofensivas y se comían a los mosquitos, pero era bastante asqueroso. La Habitación era bastante amplia, con televisor y mesa escritorio. El baño era algo justito peró pasable. Cenamos en la terraza del hotel (más que nada porque no hay otros establecimientos en la zona) y la cena estuvo bastante bien.

  Definitely Not Four Stars

  The Bandholm Hotel is quite a nice place to have a beach side holiday but has several problems. Lets start with the positive points: The team is overhaul very friendly and try their best to be helpful. The location offers easy access to the beach and the nearby historic railway station. Now for the problems: Apart of the main historic building, the property itself stretches across several buildings along the main road and ends up with spa facility at the very end. The main building houses the restaurants and has serious ventilation problems. This means that you will be overwhelmed by the smells coming from the kitchen the moment you enter. Fried fish is not the first smell I would like to experience upon check-in. We stayed in the new building but despite its newness it was already showing that the renovation was done on the cheap. The rain shower head was leaking, the show doors did not block the water, meaning that taking a shower, also meant flooding the bathroom. The IKEA curtains were falling off the railings, and the whole place had serious ventilation problems, making a house by the beach feel stifling (an installation of an air circulation or air conditioning system is needed urgently, both in the hallway and the rooms). Despite the room being left clean, the housekeep team seem to do things very carelessly. The towels never hung on their racks but rather left on the chair. Wet towels where not replaced, or just removed without providing new ones, bathroom amenities where not replenished and the cleaning materials were forgotten in the shower. The whole thing meant that, each evening, after returning to our room we had to return to reception to ask for missing things. You would think that after a couple of times, someone from the front desk would raise the issue with the housekeeping team to do a more careful job, but they obviously didnt. The breakfast quality is rather good. Nice selection of food and hot and cold drinks, but the buffet often ran out of things. The overhaul feeling was one of a move it or lose it, especially during the busier days. To sum up, the Bandholm Hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. However, what this hotel is not is a four star facility.

  Absolutely Unforgettable

  To say we cant find the words to thank you enough is an understatement. To the staff who worked over the weekend of Sam and Is wedding; you absolutely made our entire experience. From the moment we arrived we received nothing but the warmest hospitality and even excitement from the staff. Every new staff member we met gave us genuine, heartfelt congratulations and we felt so well looked after for our short, but positively unforgettable stay. Never have Sam and I experienced such a relaxing, warm and comfortable atmosphere of absolute luxury. We will definitely be back, weve only just left but cannot wait to experience this beautiful hotel, and its amazing staff again. Truly, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Lenaia & Sam

  We loved our 2-night stay

  What a welcome getaway. Actually, it's only a 30-minute drive away, but it was still like escaping to a tiny different world. The hotel is refreshingly old-fashioned and unpretentious - heavy drapes, thick carpets, lovely old cabinets. I think we had the best room/rooms/suite in the hotel with a fabulous view over the water - the autumn sunrise was tantalising - as was the nocturnal view of all the white Christmas lights draped over the pavilions and other smaller buildings that belong to the hotel. Our package included 2 lovely meals - 3 courses on the first night and 7 courses on the second - which was surprisingly lighter than the first meal. The food on both occasions was excellent, as were the wines that accompanied them. Breakfast à la Covid-19 was brilliantly regimented by a charming head waitress - clear instructions delivered with a smile - tons of space for appropriate distancing. All the staff were, in fact, charming. It's a cliché maybe that it's the people that make a place - but the more you travel the more you realise it's true. That includes the two lovely women who massaged us in the hotel's wellness centre a short walk away. We returned home refreshed. Can't wait for the next time.

  Managed expectations

  Pros: Beautiful location close to Safari park and beach Outdoor serving in the pavillon Flexible and welcoming staff Good menu selection Will make up for their mistakes and take responsibility Clean and maintained Good parking Good breakfast selection Cons: No highly experienced or trained waiters (dont expect top of class presentation and serving skills) if its a busy day they dont have the structure to keep up Likely to forget your order Small rooms many of which are walking blocks down the road so you dont really feel like youre at the hotel The food is fine but not amazing. Basic culinary mistakes are made and some courses are just not good. No pro bartenders but they will attempt to make what youd like Overall We had heard really good recommendations of the place so our expectations were high. This is no where near a Michelin treatment but its fine. Would love to come back and see improvements but Im not sure they are aware of their level.
