    NIGHTMARE

I've been staying regularly over the years at the Brittania hotel on Beaumont road in Bolton ,Greater Manchester. Its getting considerably worse.Me and my dad checked on Friday 28th of August for 1nights stay in rooms 9 and 11.They rooms were NOT UP TO STANDARD.There was a damp stale smell not to mention the smell of cannabis from the room next door. There were people staying there as sheltered accommodation and were looking the worse for wear. We didn't feel comfortable as we should at a hotel. We couldn't relax then when we got to our rooms the smell was horrendous ,the was blood on the torn carpet. The door frame was smashed like something out of a horror movie. And the room was completely dated bk to the 1970s.It was completely unacceptable for a hotel. We left immediately- and was disgusted!!!!

    False Advertising

Booked a 2 night stay at the Britannia Hotel in Bolton. Arrived just after midnight and checked out before 12.30. There was no way we were staying in this dump. The room was filthy with stains all over the ceiling, curtains hanging down. The bed was cheap and hard. The room was dirty and the pictures advertised are completely opposite to what you get. I don't know where they get the glossy pictures from hence the title False Advertising.

    Worst hotel ever!

I was meant to stay for 3 days at this hotel. Problem began from the on set. There was only one receptionist who had to also serve breakfast to customers. So she was running around literally back and forth from the kitchen to the reception. Then there was an issue with their TV...the chef had to come to my room to fix the TV after he had finished serving breakfast. The wallpaper in my room was flaking out, with dent marks all over the walls. And also the room was so cold! Then there was a consistent issue with their boiler. So there was no hot water to bath/shower! They kept saying the engineer was coming to fix it but the issue was never fixed whilst I was there. Had to check out on the second day and requested for a refund for the last day. Receptionist informed me that I had to email their finance team and wait for the manager to come. Still waiting for the refund by the way...

    AVOID AVOID AVOID

Booked as a last minute thing for 2 nights as some friends were staying there. Check in was quick and easy with no issues and the room was cheap. Thats just about all the positives. Room was very tired with carpet threadbare in places and had clearly not been redecorated or refurbished since it was built. The bathroom was an attractive beige colour although with a random white tile in places. Tried taking a shower shortly after arriving and found that the shower hose leaked more water than made it out of the actual shower head. Not a great start. Shower got worse when realised the water was at best tepid. Wanted a nap though so ignored the vaguely smokey smell in the room usdd the hairdryer (the most modern thing in the room) to defrost after my cold shower and tried to have a nap. That evening after having been out pur party returned to the hotel to be told by the friendly Sharaz on reception that the boiler was broken so there was still no hot water. Good news though the engineer was on the way..... From Brighton! Bit of a trip to Bolton so obviously going to be several hours at least. Didn't matter too much at that time though after a few wines and knowing we had an early start I just wanted some sleep. Up and our early in the morning having successfully avoided booking breakfast which we had discovered you had to collect from a table near reception and take to your room as the restaurant amd bar were closed due to Covid. Strange when consider that restaurants and bars around the country reopened several week before. Returned back to the hotel after a cold day out just wanting a long hot shower a quick nap and to head out for drinks. Yes you guessed it. No hot water still. Off to reception I go to find out what the problem is. Arrived at reception and when explained the lack of hot water was treated like I was lying with the response of well there was piping hot water earlier. Oh sorry should I have stayed in my room all day gopingbtgat the water apuld be on long enough to have a hot shower? Another lady then arrived at reception also questioning the lack of hot water and also the her TV didn't work. Reception advised hot water will be reset and back on in 10 minutes (there goes my power nap time) and off he goes to fix the TV in the ladies room. 15 minutes later still no hot water (I'm still cold and desperate for a hot shower but running out of time to get showered and out for a reservation) called reception to be advised water would now be 15 more minutes. 15 minutes later and still no hot water, by this point I just want to go home so speak to my friends and we all decide that we cannot stay any longer and we want to leave and get a refund. Off to reception I go again and meet a couple who were also wanting to check out as they were freezing cold (their room heating wasn't working) and they hadn't been able to shower for a couple of days. Reception were still checking people in at this point without advising that there was no hot water in the hotel. Not great in the middle of a pandemic when we are all supposed to be washing our hands regularly. Tried speaking to reception who to quote said "I don't get paid enough to deal with this crap" didnt get a single word of apology until he was pulled up at his lack of an apology and we all insisted on leaving and getting a refund. We did get our refund and we all checked out and even got an apology as well eventually. The hotel is very tired, very worn and there are some strange characters there but if you want somewhere for a fairly cheap nights sleep and do not mind cold showers this is the place for you. If however you have any standards at all look around and am sure you will find plenty of other cheap options in the area.

    Disappointed

Got a room cheap as a last minute booking so wasnt expecting a luxurious room. However, when we got into our room it was just laughable. Looked like a room from the 90's. The walls were filthy, the bed was so hard my guy got a burnt mark on his knee! After having a shower,I picked up the towel off the floor which we used to dry our feet. It was black underneath which proved how dirty the floor actually was. Also, the place genuinely looked haunted... but to our disappointment there were no ghosts. Probably wouldn't give this hotel a second try.
