  Family owned hotel on the French border

  Hotel chapeau Noir is a family-run hotel which is located close to the French border. Saarlouis and Saarbrücken are a short drive away. Unfortunately, the room #30 assigned to us was not ideal, only accessible through the backyard and the beer garden. The double room is of acceptable size, equipped with comfortable double bed of 160 cm. A small table serving as a desk is standing under the wall mounted TV. Uncommon is that there was no separate bathroom/WC. The washbasin is embedded directly into the room, the shower and toilet are frightening small only separated by a glass door. Privacy is not given; and the ventilation is insufficient. A deposit box is in the room, WiFI worked perfectly. The room was very cool and non-heated on a cold, rainy October day. In the summer, the noise from the beer garden could be extremely disturbing. The breakfast is plentiful and good. It is charged 5 and a bargain measured on the quality and selection. For diner 3-course menu for 29.-and 4-course 49. Is proposed. The food was good. The portions are rather large. The ambience in the restaurant and breakfast room is welcoming, despite the rather idiosyncratic decoration. Enough free parking is available in front of the hotel..

  A hidden Gem

  Wonderful family run hotel, great food , immediat "feel at home feeling" nice little rooms with everything you need, attentive friendly staff, and lots of music , we had a great time, and will be back.

  Family business with love and passion

  The Chapeau noir is a family business. You feel that they run it with pleasure and passion. When we arrived, the owner offered a little soap bubbles bottle to our little girl as welcome gift. It was Sunday afternoon, on Sunday, they are normally closed, but it was Eastern and we had the chance to have a rapid meal. We had a good Schnitzel with a beer in the beautiful Biergarten. The room we stayed in was comfortable and fresh renovated. Everything was clean and it was very silent. The breakfast was a real party; you have a huge choice of products, lacto free and gluten free as well, the fruit jams are homemade and you can order fried or scrambled eggs minute made. Do not hesitate to choose it, you will not be disappointed.

  Excellent hotel with friendly service!

  Excellent hotel with great value for money. Nice (superior) room which is large with excellent beds. Sufficient bathroom and nice shower, even a writing desk and sitting area is present. Friendly staff and proprietor, extensive breakfast with plenty of local and vegan/vegetarian choice (even vegan muesli etc.). We will definitily visit again!

  Fantastic hotel

  Fantastic hotel with a perfect service! Very friendly lovely owners who will do their incredible best to make your stay very pleasant! Perfect bed and a lovely walkinshower! The breakfast was also very very good with even vegan options, homemade bulger salad and great müsli with soja or almont milk! Our doggies where also allowed in the Beautiful garden or even inside where no carpet was on the Floor! I bought 4 Beautiful handcrafted chickens!
