  cierre de la recepción

  nos llamo la atención que cierran la recepción del hotel desde las 23:00 horas y no te avisan, te intentan localizar por el número de tlf que has dado al hacer la reserva y te dan un código para poder entrar, cuando en su publicidad te dicen que RECEPCION LAS 24 HORAS, muy austero en cuanto a desayunos y muy normalito en el resto.

  Warning: they will never refund a mistake

  First of all I will have to start with a warning. On booking I was making some reservations for a group of friends. And as it is with groups they want to have a say too, so I allways book refundable rooms. I assed I did so with this hotel but apparently I made a mistake. One room was refundable and accidentaly the next one looked like it would be refundable but it was a fixed booking (on booking.com so beware). It didn t matter how I pleaded with booking.com or the hotel (it was still for weeks ahead) they were bot willing to help me fix my mistake. As I booked for four days it was a considerable ammount and we finally went there. The hotel we appreciated. Basic but with firm but good beds. Breakfast ok (you have to pay for extra s like real cappucino or fried eggs). But staff friendly and all in all good. And at the entrance of the pedestrian zone. Beware if you need a parking space. Very tight and limited parking. So if you want a stress free stay and a parking space go somewhere else. The mishap with the booking took away a lot of the trip fun anticipation. A shame that a hotel needs to be that firm and has no leniancy to correct an honest mistake. That is alreadt enough to disqualify it as a good hotel. So be careful when you book here. Better reserve through email. PS we had superior rooms.

  SKIING HOLIDAY

  We booked full board and wished we hadnt! This is a rustic old hotel quite well situated near the main lift. If you choose a balcony with a view its incredibly noisy at night. Breakfast is self service and ok. The food is appalling (especially for Italy). Hot food grandly served on cold plates! Lots of soup all the same flavour, veal almost every day just sitting on a cold plate with boiled potatoes. The vegetarian option each day was egg. 2 fried eggs on a plate, cheese omelette, plain omelette etc. The maitre d was fierce - no changing tables all week, no part sharing of dessert - not allowed! Thank goodness for the marvellous Cafe Roma where for the price of a drink Crystal lay on a buffet every night with the most delicious food - so guess where we ate? By the end of the week the hotel restaurant was empty as we were all eating in cafe Roma!

  Great low-cost hotel for casual visitors to Courmayeur

  Summary: Three lads, looking for a low-cost place to stay, on a four-day trip to Courmayeur. The hotel was a great fit for our requirements. Very reasonable rates, and breakfast included. Arrival was pleasant, friendly greeting, and shown to our room. The room itself was 'rustic' - typical of this type of hotel - probably in need of some refurbishment, at some point, but we understand that this is how we find reasonable cost rooms! Three beds (room 111) on the first floor. One of the beds (mine, after 'first in the room gets first dibs' and I had got us checked in!) was, technically, in a corridor area - but in fairness, in a room of three blokes, being separate was actually a positive. Beds weren't the most comfortable, we all suffered from sore backs in the first couple of days of skiing (which we attributed to the beds, but can't be sure.) Bathroom was adequate - a shower attachment on a bath wasn't ideal, but there was plenty of hot water. The staff throughout were very pleasant, and spoke good English. The hotel wasn't full when we departed, so they granted us use of the room until our taxi arrived at 5pm - which was greatly appreciated. The hotel is located at the end of Via Roma, the main drag through Courmayeur. It is really well positioned for all of the bars and restaurants in town. It is a few minutes walk from the Courmayeur cable car which runs late in the evenings (so good if you enjoy apres ski on the mountain). We hired skis at Alpineve, up the mountain - so can't comment on ski/boot storage. Breakfast was fine, a standard 'basic' Alpine buffet, with bread, cheese, ham, nutella and yoghurt. Coffee and tea served by the staff, and an offering of scrambled egg and bacon (however, this was in quite short supply.) Not the greatest breakfast, but we agreed that it fit the cost profile of the hotel. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant in the evening. There were no other issues to report. If I was staying in Courmayeur again with 'the lads' I'd certainly choose this hotel again.

  Rustic alpine charm in a great location

  The hotel is very well situated at the end of the main pedestrian street and <10 minutes walk to the cable car. It has a rustic character with a comfortable lobby area. The bedrooms are well sized with plenty of storage. The bathrooms are similarly well proportioned though some only have a shower hose in the bath rather than a head height shower. We travelled with Crystal Ski on half board. They do make an effort with a 3/4 course dinner with 3 main course choices and although the dishes may not to be everyones personal taste and vegetarian options limited, it is much better than some reviews make out. The breakfast is perfectly ample too The staff are helpful and courteous and the the rooms are clean and comfortable. If you want a well located hotel that fully justifies its star rating and price/ value for money, then you will not go far wrong here. We would definitely stay again and travel with Crystal. Some reviews mention Bar Roma, it does an extensive free buffet from 1600-2100. But whilst the buffet is out the drinks cost more. A tea and small beer 15. Any combination of a small beer and soft drink cost the same price so you pay for the buffet via the drinks. Not necessarily a problem but worth noting if its just a post skiing drink you want. Courmayeur is a lovely skiing resort and we would definitely return.
