  Post-lockdown getaway

  The manager Laurien and his staff are fantastic and cant do enough for you. Great place to stay, fantastic food and what a menu choice! Even at breakfast the man serving is very friendly and polite, and puts a smile on your face. Lovely clean and modern rooms with a big bath. Perfect for a few nights break. Cant wait to return soon - would highly recommend, and a must visit and if you havent! Chris, Marj, Sam + Poppy

  Slice of paradise.

  This little hotel is fantastic, the staff are amazing and really helpful. Rooms are on the smaller side however as it is an old building and would not expect a bigger on the inside than the outside (tardis reference). We will return next year as we really couldnt stay anywhere else in the area now, one other thing to mention is that the food is amazing.. the lamb and winter greens is sublime. Make sure after a days walking you leave your boots by the open fire... toasty.

  Christmas 3 night break

  The welcome was wonderful. All staff were very welcoming. The room was warm, clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt completely safe with all the covid precautions.Food in the resturaunt was exemplary. Very dog friendly hotel.

  Super Pre-Christmas break

  Probably the best hotel in a good walking area that we have found for our annual pre-Christmas getaway - it was defintely worth the wait until December this year. The room was warm with a large comfortable bed and there was a super bath to relax in after an energetic day. The chef/manager took a personal interest in our booking and all the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent, with large Cumbrian portions. We definitely hope to return another year.

  Relaxing stay

  We had a fab 2 nights stay at the cuckoo. The cuckoo has a very warm feeling about it and the public areas and rooms are all very clean. The food is amazing chef loredan and team do a brilliant job and he always goes out of his way to ask how you find the meal. Mihaela is great and nothing is too much trouble and she is always asking how your stay is. Plenty of walks on your doorstep to do so very handy for the dog. We will be returning.
